Broken and glue-repaired wing tip, home-made paper stickers coloured in by hand, chewed up gun, paint worn eyes, smells of smoke...

Nice! Honestly from the first few pics, I couldn't spot the damages/flaws. Or even the "reprolabels" :LOL

I need some "reprolabels" for my GS too! Official ones.  

 

So you can imagine what chance I had from this picture used by the seller...

that is what is awesome about g1 toys. they can be roughed up, and in some cases even broken. and still be amazing toys.

Galaxy Shuttle is just a little battle damaged, but he's still good!

It's a damn shame, what a terrific mould, the toy has real presence. Reminds me why I fell in love with Transformers originally. Sadly I cannot even display the guy next to me as it reeks so badly of cigarettes...

Here's my jetfire. Opening jetfire I always think "this is a lot of toy" between the armor, the two Styros, 3 transformations and a huge box. Just an awesome toy! I am embarrassed to admit I forget where the gun clip goes?

That is utter blasphemy Maz, I'm angered for you....desecration to such a phenominal bot is unforgiveable, but the willful misleading in the sale is toxic.

I hope you get a full one and it's swift, if not light him up in one of your articles as a warning for all who deal with him.

As far as the smoke, there's a very straightforward cure for the smell. Use Lysol aerosol disinfectant. Spray the entire figure once very lightly and then fully to the point the liquid drips. It will not harm the plastic or the decals (although I can't guarantee the homemade kind)!! The smoke smell will be gone for good.

Jeez Maz! That's really awful! I really hope you get your money back as I can imagine you paid a pretty penny.

It does however look like a nice project to tackle and reinstate it into former glory. Full repaint, rebuild the broken parts etc. I'd pay €50 to get that project onto my workbench (just to display the figure in my own collection later)

Cheers Rein, he's been good enough and gracious enough to accept the faults and agree to a full refund. In turn I have offered him my photographs of it so he can better sell it on the re-listing.

Maybe the worst part of all is that I'll actually be sad to see it go, warts and all, but for the amount I paid it should have been better.

Isn't there a 2 different versions of the g1 jetfire? Which one is more valuable?

 

More than 2.

- Matsushiro stickered-wing symbol version (notched antennae, stripe on canopy)
- Matsushiro painted-wing symbol version (smooth antennae, striped canopy)
- Transitional Matsushiro-Bandai, is a halfway house between the Matsu manufactured and Bandai manufacted versions
- Bandai Jetfires.

So at least 4, with a variety of variants within. Typically there is more hype surrounding the Matsushiro versions, but there are at least 4 or 5 on eBay at any one time so calling it "rare" is somewhat misleading. FInding MIB unused ones with ALL parts and ALL paperwork - including the extra small stickersheet - that can be difficult. Although one sold on eBay just 2 or 3 weeks back so again, not mega mega rare.
