I never realized how short the Ultra Pretenders were.

I'm still looking for a complete Crossblades.

 

Crossblades is the only pretender I currently own! I managed to track down one for $100 that was only missing a handgun, and bought the gun for another $30. Maybe you could pull a similar trick? He’s really a fantastic mold.

 

The blades seem to be the hardest part to find. I'm in no rush, but it's insane this guy (and practically every other 1989 Pretender) goes for so much.

 

It's great, the Pretenders scale with almost every figure scale of the period except 3¾". The Ultra Pretenders scaling with 90s Kenner DC figures means they probably scale with Secret Wars and Super Powers figures as well, while the "small" Pretenders like Bludgeon and Doubleheader fit right in with MOTU and similarly styled figures. The beast Pretenders...well, they fit in with those too. The 1988 ones I'm not sure of since they're so much larger. Thundercats maybe?

 

I love the G2 coloring on Sideswipe.

 

Probably because of all the parts that can go missing.

It's kind of ironic, Thunderwing is the only Mega Pretender who isn't a partsformer but he's even more expensive for entirely different reasons!

 

I want to pick up a junker and build a cartoon version Red Alert. I had one years ago and loved it.

Finally finished the Autobot Headmasters! I need to resticker Hardhead and Chromedome but I’ll wait until I have more decals to order.

Also, if I had to rank the Headmasters by fun and playability…. I would say:

1. Hardhead: It’s a tank! Why not!
2. Brainstorm
3. Highbrow
4. Chromedome: I dunno if it is just me, but he was always the weakest figure in my opinion. He has this Barbie high heel stance so he always seems to be leaning forward.

I really hope they do reissue Sunstreaker someday, you would think it would be worth it for HasTak to re-do the mold if the original is indeed lost. Especially considering it was the first Car Robot mold.

For the box art, I'd personally choose the shot of him smirking next to Optimus as he orders the Dinobots to destroy Devastator.

 

The Hasbro logo covering up the little you could see of him in the first place makes this even funnier
