Always felt great as a kid when you'd complete a team. Always had a soft spot for the Firecons and Battlechargers. Such a shame they didn't have some movement in their arms.

G1 Perceptor tried to be cool, in the cartoon and the toyline. He’s such an endearing character either way. The lovable scientist with the quirky personality and alt modes made for a fun character/toy. One of Perceptor’s more endearing qualities that made him so likeable was the fact that he was a know-it-all that didn’t mean to be a know-it-all. All he ever wanted to do was help the Autobot cause. He definitely gets an ‘A’ for effort.

25th anniversary was a good time to release this guy. Perceptor was due for a reissue and this commemorative edition is a beautiful addition to anyone’s collection.

The packaging itself is well done with great graphics and artwork.

Very nice window display with Perceptor’s bio and various modes on the inner flap. I think it’s cool they even showed off his tank mode. So official!

Starting with his microscope mode, this was definitely not your average Autobot. But at the same time it’s probably one of the most appropriate alt modes of all time given the character and his personality. It’s a well done design too with the telescoping lenses that you can actually see thru, the specimen tray, and the dials on the side to ‘adjust’ the lenses. Definitely looks like something we used in high school biology/chemistry.

I actually really like his tank mode. Another quirky design to fit the character.
It’s really cool how the microscope looks enough like a tank barrel that I think he pulls it off quite well.

A telescoping tank! I feel Perceptor would say “fascinating”!

The toy bot mode is very well done. The ability to adjust the placement of the scope is a nice touch. I always loved the red/teal/black color scheme. Very nice accessories and I like how the specimen tray acts as the chest. The only thing I wish was different is the headsculpt. It’s not bad, but I don’t recall Perceptor ever having a faceplate in the cartoon. I know it’s G1 toy accurate, it’s just my preference to see his whole face. Oh well, Perceptor is still one of the G1 characters I’m glad to have. I always enjoyed his presence in the show and his importance especially in the animated movie.

Congrats on both achieving such a great milestone, and doing so by obtaining such a great looking "holy grail"-level piece! And I am also hoping to feel the same when I finally get the one figure I have wanted for the past 7 years, but could not afford MISB then and was lucky to find now. *knocks on wood* So what is next on that list of yours?

He was my absolute favorite when it came to the very few Transformers I was allowed to own. And also, I do not know what your budget is like. But I did find a few pre-rub Soundwaves for sale on eBay. Which I do hope helps you in some way. Here is the listing: Soundwave Original (Opened) Transformers & Robot Action Figures for sale | eBay

Is that the story of how Spike ran over Sparkplug, then hid the evidence, and that is why we never see either the green Ratchet, or Sparkplug after the movie?

You've just reminded me that the green Ratchet has long been on my list of figures to pick up. I even bought the third party clip on head set for him and the black Ironhide years ago in anticipation. Plus I want to repurpose Ratchet as the Decepticons medic.

You should definitely pick up the head set yourself. The other set greatly improved the red and white versions of the vans.

I didn't know that Spike and Sparkplug set were small enough to fit in Diaclone vehicles nor that their helmets are detachable.

image.jpg I noticed something odd about Kup's feet, aside from the fact that they're stuck. His wheels appear to be diecast and his toes are plastic.

Thank you! And as for what's next, I'm never really sure. I tend to buy figures when I see them cheap rather than seek out a specific one. So, who knows.

Im interested in those head sets, i only came across ones for regular colors Ratchet + Ironhide, i even missed the large add ons that had not only heads but shoulders and arms that imitated their apperances in cartoon, ah well.... Spike + Sparkplug have tiny black spanners too. Pm me please if u come across any more, regards.

This is actually a variant. My G1 version (Not reissue) has plastic wheels there. Unsure which one is rarer. But, I do see plastic toe versions more often.

You're welcome. And I can understand that. My current re-attempt is a work in progress. And *knocking on wood* if my first piece arrives from Singapore in the condition shown, I'll be starting my collection with my own holy grail piece.

Please post pics! I'd love to see. And like you I was able to start my collection with my personal holy grail as well. A MIB Pre-rub Optimus Prime. I've posted this picture once before, but I don't think anyone will mind (or at least i hope not)
