I just wanted to post that I recently had some fraudulant acitivity on my debit card and had to get a new one. The only reason I'm posting this is basically the majority of places that have my info online are places I've ordered transformers from, and odds are if it was another toy site getting comprimised, a lot of board members are at risk. So, just trying to get the word out. The charges were put on within the past 5 hours, and it now being 6:30 AM Pacific time. Just to give some details, there were a total of 4 charges so far, getting incrementally higher starting at $1 and up to $25. These charges were all from different places in different States in the US. It's safe to assume that if I didn't cancel, the charges would have gotten progressively higher.
I'm not saying I know that it's any specific site, I just know the only real online orders I make are from a lot of sites you guys order from as well. It MIGHT not have been related to any toy sites. Still, I'm just posting here to encourage others to check their accounts that otherwise wouldn't normally check that soon.
Do you use debit at the gas station? Anytime I ever got hit was right after using a gas station. As for online I am strictly Paypal so I worry not of these things.
Appreciate the heads up. I check my account routinely but it's nice to have notice if something is going on so that a card can be cancelled/etc if need be. I also try to use paypal everywhere I can outside of bbts (which uses the card for the pol).
Dude, I appreciate the heads up but unless you have proof; anyone could of snatched your CC info and used it. Is it a Transformer shopping specific card? Or do you use that card to make all your regular/daily purchases.
There is a bogus Paypal email going around. This one is really good, the link takes you to a mirror site and is trying to get you to confirm all of your info and enter it.
I just got hit, too. I don't want to point fingers, but last night I paid my registration for the TFCC with the card number. Every other site I use Paypal.
Thanks for the heads up. Like someone else said, it's possible some random jerk stole your card number. I just checked my account, and it's all good.
Some people make it sound like they only use their Credit and Debit cards online and not in the real world. Odds are you are just as likely to get ripped off like this at actual stores as you are with online sites.
