Wow. Prime Starscream sounds like a popular figure. I hope the voyager is just as good or better.

This was a hard list to put together by the way. I love top 5 lists, but I've never done one with Transformers. Haha

    Best:

    Generations Warpath

While I really dig some of the DOTM toys and Generations Wheeljack, Warpath reigns supreme.

Honorable Mentions: Generations Wheeljack, DOTM Shockwave, DOTM Megatron, RTS G2 Optimus Prime, and DOTM Starscream and Thundercracker.

If I had MP-10, he would have been my number 1. From what I've seen of him, he looks amazing.

    Just to be controversial:

    RTS Tracks

Runners-up: DOTM Hatchet, RTS Lugnut, PCC Salvage, Generations Scourge.

(At least one of these is probably 2010, I don't really keep a good check...)

    Lots of great choices guys.

For me, the best figure of 2011 has to be MP-10 Convoy. This toy had such a weird build up and progression for me. It was a roller coaster ride to say the least.

It started off as a complete mystery, it was months after Rodimus was released that we finally started to get hints of what it would be. I'm pretty sure most people were assuming Galvatron (myself included). When the news did hit it came as such a shock. Takara had been pimping last shot Convoy for months saying it would never be released again and then here after its release we get news that the next release will in fact be Convoy again, but a new version.

I was really turned off by it at this point and had no desire to get it. Once the price was revealed it made me go WTF even more. Throw in the fact that MP-09 was a pretty crap figure design and QC wise I had no faith.

It kind of just silently got released and people slowly started to buy it. Once I saw all of these videos of it I knew I had to have it. I wasn't thrilled about dropping the cash but I had some BBTS store credit lying around and figured that I might as well.

When I got this in hand I was floored. The design, aesthetics, engineering, it was all so superb. I quickly forgot all about MP-01 and fell in love with the new version. It makes you forget that it cost $250.

Wait until next year when people have had more of a chance to get the latter, and the inevitable US release of the former. They'll be up there once they get into our hands. Voyager Prime was mainly there for me because I'd spent a couple of days solidly working on his gallery. Worth it though, I love that toy.

Looking at the list of toys offered for 2011, (being a movie year, there were a lot of them) there were a lot of figures worthy of mention for any fan's top 5, 10, etc. list. There were also a number of figures that deserve the name Peg Warmer.

Of the 277 figures released from Jan 1st to Dec 31st, it's not so easy to pick a small handful as the years' best. But I'll throw my two cents in.

    1. Best Legend or smaller sized figure for the year: Guzzle (runners-up: Powerglide and RTS Starscream.)
Yes the Cyberverse Commanders are a little bigger than your average legend toy but they're still smaller than a basic so I included them here. Guzzle works as both a movie figure and a Classics and gives fans another Wrecker for their shelf. Powerglide was a nice surprise and a nice figure and Starscream incorporated all of it's G1 looks into a tiny legend figure without looking too much like the WST figure that came before it.

    2. Best Basic (Scout) figure for the year: Windcharger (runner-up: Heavytread)
There weren't a lot of Scouts to choose from this year and as a PCC, Heavytread represents a 2010 gimmick, but I thought he deserved a mention since he was one of the best PCC's designed (IMO) and that he fits so well on my classics shelf as Brawl. (despite being an Autobot)

    3. Best Deluxe figure for the year: Warpath (runner-up: RTS Jazz, Prime: Starscream)
There were a good number of Deluxes made this year and while some of them were not so good, there were enough to make choosing a winner tough. Since the three I've picked has been on everyone else's list, I think we can all agree on why I choose them.

    4. Best Voyager figure for the year: Lugnut (runner-up: Shockwave)
While fewer in number in a given year than deluxes, Voyagers usually have better engineering/articulation/transformation than most deluxes. That said, I was really disappointed with most of the DOTM voyagers this year. Lugnut won on my list for being a fun toy and having a lot of personality.

    5. Best Leader or larger figure of the year: Ironhide (runner-up: MP Rodimus)
Ironhide was finally given the figure he deserved after three movies despite his fate in DotM. (Even missing his signature guns) Rodimus is great for a Masterpiece and I loved the Targetmaster homage, but missing his trailer thus missing one of his transformations leaves a nice feature of this mold usless. (It's too bad they didn't offer a small number of trailers on Hasbro's website to those who would have gladly paid for it to complete the toy.)

    6. Best Repaint of the year: Botcon Thundercracker (runners-up: TRU's Scan series)
Most great molds get repaints. Hasbro gets to make more off of a mold and fans get either a new character or (hopefully) a nicer upgrade of the original mold. (anyone remember premiums?) This year saw the most unlikely repaint ever and then repurposed it giving fans an option of which shelf to sit such a horrid yet awesome colored figure. TRU's Scan series deserves a note I think for a clever use clear plastic and a nice way to repaint a figure rather than the usual Battle Damaged version that's done.

    7. Best Remold of the year: Generations Wheeljack (runners-up: Sky Shadow, TFCC Cheetor)
The nice thing about a remold over a repaint is that it only takes a little change to make a big difference and when that change is planned in advance, it makes all the difference. Wheeljack shows that good planning makes for great toys. I gave Cheetor the runner-up because of the mold's origin and TFCC's use of it as a homage.

    8. Best Exclusive of the year: Unicron (runner-up: G2 Ramjet)
Finally, after 25 years, we get the Chaos Bringer we've all wanted. (and without paying import prices.) Nuff said.

    9. Pegwarmer of the year: Deluxe DotM Bumblebee
Too many made, too many repainted, Bumblebee showed us this year that you can get too much of a good thing. As fans and kids have grown tired of seeing the same mold or slight modification of same mold since '07 is it any wonder that the stores are still choked with Bumblebee's? Hopefully Hasbro has learned from this and in the next movie line they either totally redesign him (or just give him a new altmode) or they cut back on the number of him they pack in the assortments.

Always hard to narrow down to just one example.

Generations Warpath: Just about the perfect level of complexity, sturdiness, fun, and homage for me.

    Runners up:

    Botcon 2011 Autotrooper
Botcon 2011 Breakdown (from the set)
    RTS Jazz
    DOTM Bumblebee

(MP10 Prime or Prime Voyagers might have placed - if I had any of them)

Personally I really think that Rotf and the Generations toylines were the best. I don't know i guess i just think they knew what they were doing because they had Nest and human Alliance. Plus i like the generation toyline to. it gave a feeling of the old characters back then. Besides one of my favorite toys was always Voyagers Ironhide.

Since the thread was revived, why not?

My Favorite of 2011 was DOTM Voyager Shockwave. He just looked so badass, and he had the best mechtech weapon. Plus the most solid transformation I've ever seen methinks.

    Runner ups were:

    2. RTS Cyclonus
    3. RTS Jazz
    4. DOTM Deluxe Topspin
    5. Prime FE Bumblebee
