They'd probably pull a Hasbro and release TC and Starscream and skip the updated Skywarp...

If neither Hasbro NOR Takara produced a Skywarp from the MP11 mold, it would be a source of frustration to me.

I'm not saying that Thundercracker won't happen, I'm just saying that I wouldn't expect him in the US before Japan.

I don't really believe that MP Thundercracker will be released in the US before Japan. That's just...illogical. Then again, it is about time the US stopped getting the short end of the stick, & maybe somebody somewhere realizes that? Who knows...as for Skywarp, well...we'll worry about him AFTER Thundercracker...although I am kinda eager to replace my Hasbro MP Skywarp with the eventual updated version. But they can take their time while I figure out a solution to my incredible shrinking shelf space...

Although the US did get the G1 Starscream deco before Japan...

And for all we know, if it's even true, MP TC could still be based off the old mold.

Hasbro couldn't possibly do something that blatantly stupid. Why would they spend the extra money to make a mold that's no longer in production, when they have a new & improved version on a silver platter for them? I know Hasbro has made some stupid, asinine decisions lately, but as hard as it is for any of us to do, you gotta have some faith in them.

Try living somewhere that's not North America or selected Asian countries.

You'll get neither the 'cool' toys from Japan, nor the low prices of the U.S..

Until retailers, and their customers, come round to the idea of paying more for toys, Masterpieces will always be off the top of Hasbro's priorities.

It's not entirely impossible Takara paid for the new tooling themselves, and Hasbro don't have access to it.

Although it is on the outer edges of possibility.

Yeah, but even though our prices are lower, we still pay a bit too much for what we get compared to what Japan gets. It's understandable to omit some of what they do, but they omit a bit too much.

Edit: You added that last bit while I was posting...anywho, I guess it isn't ENTIRELY impossible, but it's pretty unlikely, IMO.

How stupid is it if they release both? It actually might be kinda stupid because I don't know how well it would sell twice, but they might like the idea of selling it twice nonetheless... And honestly, while I'd much rather have the new mold (especially since I already have the old Takara version,) if I were only going to have one set of MP seekers, I'd probably rather they all match...especially over TC being the one that's superior of the three.

Considering Takara will often charge 2 - 2.5 times Hasbro's U.S price for exactly the same toy, i would've said you're doing rather well.

Or did i misunderstand your comment?

Well, Takara Transformers have nicer paintjobs, aren't neutered(looking at YOU & your stupid short smokestacks Hasbro MP Optimus Prime), are usually better quality, actually include all accessories, & even have those nice boxes which probably don't help the prices & have way too much unused space in them. Although I do gotta admit the Takara versions are overpriced as well(looking at YOU MP10!) & should be lower...with current prices, I'm amazed that the line hasn't failed yet.

    The bolded part is inconclusive.

Takara's DOTM toys were almost entirely identical to Hasbro's and cost 2 - 2.5 times the price, IIRC.

Their HFTD toys had some paint variations, but never actually MORE paint, if memory serves me correctly, and again, twice or more the price of Hasbro offerings.

True, but why bring DOTM into this? I was talking specifically about Masterpieces...but maybe when I made my comment about the US getting the "short end of the stick" a few posts back, I should've been a bit more specific...but the quality thing is because I have Takara MP Grimlock, iGear MP Ramjet, Hasbro MP Optimus Prime, Hasbro MP Rodimus, & Hasbro MP Skywarp. Out of those 5, my Grimlock has the best quality, with Ramjet being #2. Skywarp has the worst quality, Rodimus the 2nd worst, & Optimus Prime is in the middle. So personally, I've experienced best quality from takara releases.

Given the context of the discussion, i should perhaps have realised the specific nature of your comment.

My first Takara MP Grimlock is just a tiny bit loose. My second one, the one with flat pins in the tail pivots as opposed to screws, is tighter. I believe the second run didn't come about until after the TRU version?

Rodimus. Going from worst to best, based on what i've ended up with, Takara V1, Hasbro, Taraka V2.

Skywarp...i think my Hasbro one and Takara one are about comparable. Although the Takara one is a bit tighter than either Mp6. Remember: Every MP Thundercracker they shipped out had reversed air intakes too, and when they did a second run of MP6 at the same time, same problem.

Optimus......no Hasbro version to go off here, but My original MP1 is just a bit tighter than MP1L.

I've no complaints about any of the iGear Conheads, although i guess i'm deviating from Takara specific discussion there.

Id' still contend that Takara's quality control record is not necessarily better than Hasbro's.

The problem my Hasbro Skywarp has is that nothing lines up right...my Takara Grimlock is a 2nd run, so that's why it's alright...Hasbro Rodimus' arms won't like up right in vehicle mode, & his left arm has a loos elbow...iGear Ramjet has a kinda loose head...Hasbro Optimus Prime has some slight shoulder issues that affect how he lines up in vehicle mode, & his chest windows don't line up, but that's nothing new to anyone. So yeah...Takara has offered me the best quality so far. We'll see if that statement remains true when I get MP11.

Hmm...turns out that rumor of a Hasbro MP Thundercracker from the MP11 mold is false...I highly doubted we'd get it before Japan anyways.

Not necessarily false...the rumor wasn't MP TC would be announced, only that he was coming. Remains to be seen if it actually happens or not. My speculation was that it would be announced this weekend if true. But I also thought the reveals would be a lot greater than they were in general. They hardly revealed anything, really. And to be clear, I'm not saying it will or won't happen, only trying to pass along secondhand info as accurate as possible...

Are there any chances at all that an MP Thundercracker could be released in the US using the old mold? As much as I like the new MP-11 mold, I have no desire to replace my Walmart Starscream and Skywarp.
