I was using Binaltech Jazz as a stand-in for a while.

As to Blitzwing, I personally think he stands a chance, out of any other triple-changer anyway. He's got repaint potential (Overcharge), and his animation model had tank parts hanging off his jet, and jet parts popping out of the tank. That could simplify things in the design plan.

 

Being a Chicago Blackhawks fan (and with the intensity of the game tonight), in my excitement to cheer my Hawks on tonight, I MAY have yelled at the them that if they won tonight, I would also buy a Masterpiece tonight.

Guess what? They won. So now I must keep my end of the unintentional bargain and buy another Masterpiece. Only problem is, I don't know who in the hell to get. It's going to be a second of an MP I already have. So do I get:

Red Alert
Prowl
Sideswipe
Smokescreen
Wheeljack
Regular Bluestreak

  

 

Definitely get Prowl. But do it cause you want an awesome toy, not cause of some superstitious "bet" you placed with yourself.

 

As I'm trying to decide what MP figure I'm going to double dip on next, I got to looking at my Datsun trio. Out of the three, Prowl is by far my favorite. He just looks so damn good. Whereas Smokescreen looks more squat-like. Bluestreak's feet kind of annoy me, in that they just look weird (and yes, he's transformed properly).

I already pre-ordered blue Bluestreak (will more than likely double dip on him), so I probably won't buy a second regular Bluestreak.

I'll probably wait a little while longer on a second Smokescreen. I do like him, it's just of the three MPs, he's my least favorite.

Another MP Swipe will be added, but not until July, along with a second Wheeljack.

So that leaves me to decide between Prowl and Red Alert.

 

You could buy another sideswipe to swap out the thighs on your Red Alert for cartoon accuracy. I'd like to do that myself but can't justify double dipping.

Also, a Takara rep would not be at a UK toyfair because Hasbro distributes there. That post was just someone taking the existing rumor (tracks, roadrage, ironhide) and adding things to it.

To repeat: there is no solid info on Galvatron, Blitzwing, or anything else beyond the three in my last sentence.

Unlikely. First (and main) point: the person who "leaked" the info said outright it was a Takara rep.

But secondly, the only people at Hasbro who talk to Takara are the designers and management. Hasbro Europe has no designers and anyone in management wouldn't leak.

Most of the people who actually work these trade shows are hired by the PR firm and not actual employees of the main company. You'll have a few higher ups, sure, but when they have 15 people wandering around answering questions only 2-3 will actually be people who are in the know, and they won't be talking to random fans.

Beyond that, this was in Europe. They wouldn't fly over 15 Hasbro US employees to work the show. A few high up people might go over but in Europe it'd be Hasbro Europe or Hasbro UK employees. The US guys work with Takara, the UK guys just act as distro for local countries.

 

But that news post came up *after* someone posted that exact rumor either here or somewhere else (australian board maybe?) saying it was a Takara rep at the UK toy fair. Also Siebertron has a pretty bad habit of posting things from our boards as "news" over there.

either way its moot, as we'll not know next years MPs till sept/oct, and at that point no one will remember these rumors anyway. Galvatron has been rumored to be "next" since MP Rodimus was released, but for some reason YEARS later people still think its a new/credible rumor.

 

I'm now stuck between Prowl and G2 Swipe. I just hate that both are so damn expensive.Same with Red Alert.

 

My hunch is the source might have mistaken the question for a different line, like maybe Leader class instead of MP. It would make sense since Leader Class is a Hasbro thing more so than Takara. Maybe one of those characters is being developed for Leader Class next year?

 

I still don't have an Alert. I'm going to have to remedy that one of these days.

 

I really like MP Red Alert. I will be getting a second.

 

Prowl's incredible, but even with my insane focus, G2 Sideswipe's awfully tempting. If my focus would allow, I'd get G2 Sideswipe.

Speaking of G2, I know I've been critical of the MP-3 / MP-11 Starscream mold, but why do you think we don't have a G2 Starscream, yet? And do you think we'll eventually get one? I know we've talked about Prime and the pros and cons of TT releasing a G2 version of him, but I'm curious about your guys' thoughts on ol' Screamer.

I know it's off-topic but Dave what don't you like about the Seeker mould? Apart from the fact that it doesn't peg in so great (although someone posted a good fix for that somewhere recently) I think it's a great likeness.



On-topic: I'd say the main reason Galvatron is still strongly-rumoured is that the original Tracks rumour courtesy of the ex-3rd party employee included Galvatron as well.

Still, the fact that Ironhide is all but confirmed is just fantastic. Apart from sleds versus no sleds has there been any recent speculation on accessories?

What I'd really like is to be able to lie a small bot like Bumblebee down in the back of Ratchet's ambulance. Or (and I've been saying this for over a year) have Bumblebee sitting down in the back of Ironhide's van manning his turret. That would be awesome!

Whether sleds versus no sleds would actually affect the available space in the rear of the vanettes is something that only a transformation expert like Liampope would be able to tell  

 

They seem to have fixed the pegging in issue on Skywarp.

Definitely much improved over Starscream, although apparently Hasbro's Sunstorm locks in the best. Really hope we get Thundercracker sometime this summer and we don't have to wait until next January. Surely two Decepticons for the year (Exhaust and Skywarp) aren't enough? Then again in 2014 all we got was Soundblaster.
