I feel like I'm more interested in Beast Wars MPs now and my hype for G1 MPs is starting to die down.

So with no other reveals happening, here’s my takeaway from this WonFest:

MP45 V2 Bee- A hot mess, won’t be buying this.

MPBW Blackarachnia- Solid representation of the character, albeit overly busty and nipply. If I didn’t have arachnophobia, I’d add her to my MPBW collection.

I did like Armada Prime and that Convoy. I may pick those up.

 

My daughter has a pet tarantula she has had for 15+ years. Best way to get over aracnaphobia. So I’m picking Blackaracnia up for sure.

Oh, and don’t google a video called “you should see me in a crown” if you have aracnaphobia...

 

That’s what caused my arachnophobia. When I was about 5 years old, one of my Mom’s cousins put his pet tarantula on my shoulder without telling me. It crawled down inside of my shirt, and I’ve been terrified of arachnids ever since. It’s so bad that I can’t even look at a picture of one.

So if I do buy this, it will remain in its box out of my line of sight.

 

Wow, that is bad. Sorry to hear that. I wasn’t a big fan, but my daughters was about as docile as a fake one.

I’ll wait until I see the alt mode before I decide how to display her. I don’t have a lot of masterpieces, BW megs is on order, so he will need some company.

 

So, someone on one of the winterfest news thread today mentioned that Yuki has been designing all the new MPs we have been getting. Is there any actual evidence to support that it isn’t Kobayashi anymore?

 

I like this version of Bumblebee much better than MP 21. It does look a little panel-ly but there could be some slight mistransformation going on. But I like the proportions much better, the articulation is clearly better, the arms aren't hollow, and it does fit the cartoon aesthetic much better. I actually like MP 21's gun better than the gun for Bumblebee V2- which is a pretty easy fix. I want to see all of his accessories and maybe more pics to make a final determination on Bumblebee V2. Especially the faces- he looks really happy to blast whatever he is blasting.  

 

I am not a BW MP fan and I don' like this Bumblebee, so I think no MP purchases in 2019, I can save money for something else, such as Double Evil.

 

MP Bumblebee 2.0 just shouted over - he wants someone to hold his beer. ;-)

 

Well, Blackarachnia was the best and most unexpected surprise. I'm glad she's being done, as for a variety of reasons (difficult logistically, female character, no obvious redeco aside from a major retool for Tarantulas) I wasn't sure to expect her anytime ever despite her popularity and relevance to BW. It's a good sign that characters beyond the original five Maximals, Megs, and Waspinator can get made.

(The chest is...a thing that happened. I really hope it's not as noticeable on the final product, since I'd rather not feel creepy having it out on display.)

I'm fine with Hound being pushed since we at least have a number for him now and he's not floating in purgatory to the point where annoying "Is he canceled?" questions start coming up with actual sincerity.

Bumblebee...oof. I really hope the people that were excited for this, and even some that weren't, are digging this. I mean, I can see what they were going for, but the execution is just not there for me. Maybe if we get a Glyph/MC Blue Bumble from this mold, I'll consider it. I was certainly hoping/expecting for something that still impressed me and just annoyed me by its existence so soon after MP-21, but this is not quite that. Again, if other people are cool with this, good. Others can enjoy it and that's a good thing; I'd rather this thing be a success I just don't buy (or only begrudgingly so, should said redeco I want happen) than an utter fucking failure that curtails Takara from doing other stuff like more minibots or something. I just wasn't expecting to look at it and end up bitter beer face-adjace.

I share a lot of other people's thoughts, Bumblebee v2 is not good... I personally think they would have been better off giving V1 a + release with toon colours, blue windows and a new head like Bluestreak +.

 

I also think that Seige Jetfire is pretty decent. I could see a revised version being MP quality. Others may disagree though!
