It’s gna be dry for quite awhile ... Optimus v3 is TT’s focus right now MP-wise ... Hound was thrown in to appease us but I wouldn’t expect much G1 movement til Galvatron is revealed as the end of ‘19 Movie Anniversary release

It's a pretty quiet end-of-year ahead of us isn't it.

    Just a reminder, we're getting
    September: 17+
    October: MP-42 Cordon, MPM-7
    November: 29+, MPM-6
    December: 36+

Is there anyone I'm forgetting? I wonder if we'll get some kind of random repaint announcement soon, thrown in for December.

January is BW Megatron, and they don’t typically load both December and Jan with a new mold, so I’d guess that’s going to be it. A load of repainted, followed by the biggest Beastie, then probably a repaint of something, then maybe Hound as MP-44 in March. If we ended up getting V3 in May or June followed by something in September or October and another at the end of December, it’d be a damn solid year.

That's right, we have 20+ in February don't we?

A year with Wheeljack+, Hound and Optimus Prime is already pretty incredible for G1 fans (especially compared to 2018).

To think we could even get another couple of new moulds before the end of 2019 is very exciting indeed. Blaster and Trailbreaker would be great additions, and be a great excuse for 13+. Maybe they'll even round the year out with 18+.

No offense, but I'd rather have more new G1 molds than MP+ for 2019.
My suspicion is MP V3 will be more of a mid to end of year release. We have MP BW Megs releasing in January, and I don't see Takara releasing two really expensive MPs back to back.

I could see Hound releasing right before V3.
I'm hoping we see maybe 2 more new G1 MP carbots (with one being Mirage, Meister or CJ).

As much as I'd like to see more G1 MP carbots, I am most excited to see the next MP Beast Wars character.

I wonder how much overlap there is, or how much TT think there is, that would affect releasing Optimus Prime close to BW Megatron. I don't see May as being too early for Optimus, although maybe they'll wait til July.

Overlap between G1 and BW collectors... that's given me a new idea for a poll!

With BW Megs being $319 and V3 probably costing as much or more, would TT really want to risk profit by releasing back to back?
With both being so pricey, that runs the risk of people having to choose between them because they can't afford both at the same time.
I can't see TT risking sales, when spacing them out a bit would be more profitable.

I honestly don’t think they would. This will be an unpopular idea, but I could see Prime being the release at the end of Q3 in September, and something coming in after him with just tons of repaints, like a Hound repaint.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the rumour right now is Trailbreaker. He would definitely be ideal since he’s probably and easy license, and they’d get a high-demand show character repaint/remould out of him, and that following Prime probably seems like a softer wallet punch.

To me it doesn't make good sense to release your anniversary centerpiece figure at the end of your anniversary. You release it near the beginning, or at the midpoint at the latest, so the people celebrating your anniversary have your spotlight figure in hand for most of it.

To me, releasing V3 immediately after BW Megs seems counter-productive.
That’s why I think V3 will be a mid to late 2019 release. I think we’ll see Hound before him, with another new mold early and a second new mold late.

We have BW Megs in January

MP20+ and MP Primal reissue in February

I’m guessing Hound will be March/April

    Another new G1 mold June/July

    V3 somewhere between September/October

    New G1 mold December

    Again, just a guess......

The thinking was that TT wouldn't release Dinobot and Megatron one after the other (in terms of BW releases) as they're the two biggest from Season 1, but here we are.

So it's a small and a fuel guzzler. That must mean Windcharger is finally coming!!! Well it would certainly pair up nicely with MP-20+. And we know how Takara loves to pair up...

    Ok, I'll play along.

    Sporty gas guzzlers:
    F1
    Porsche
    Trans-Am

Lancia Stratos- which is being released February

That's if usernamedustin is being genuine, and this mystery source is talking about new G1 MP molds.

There's only 3 potential + repaints left imo. Maybe 4. Soundwave, Bluestreak and Smokescreen. Maybe Bumblebee.

Looking at what's coming I the only official figure I will have bought this year is + Prowl. Worst official year for a long time imo. +Wheeljack, V3 Prime and Hound can't co e soon enough.

With regard to it being a quiet year, I don't know if it affects TT's plans but for regular anime figures November in particular has been packed to the brim with an absolute metric ton of figures. I know several hardcore collectors dropping more than 1K on stuff, and September is just about as busy by comparison. A lot of Transformers collectors don't quite realize how big the figure market is, I think, or how much money is on the table. TT understands their product is relatively niche compared with a lot of the stuff out there that is general appeal.

well, that falls in line with why every character won't get made and their is a certain list of figures and characters they believe can compete in such a market, same thing with BW as they have pretty much started out with their heavy hitters off top. I know things are packed SOC wise, but I think the hold off this year may have been intentional and stuff the releases next year in the anniversary. I'm hoping BW Megatron getting released so soon after Dinobot is a sign they go G1 this year for the anniversary. No different then G1 getting Megatron and Sunstreaker and then pretty much nothing this year.

I guess the other question with all the errors at last show was Hound even meant to be shown, especially since he was ignored in the last magazine.

...considering how underdeveloped his engineering appeared, it sure would be reassuring to imagine that his design isn't yet ready for prime time, but i suspect that'd just be wishful thinking on my part...

Oh, I have no problem with the armature if it results in a jeep that doesn't look like a monster truck when next to all the other cars.
