Y'know, I think toys r us would do a blaster with all the casesettes, like soundwave, and they'll have like a visor or clip on or something on his helmet for more of a toy look. I think hasbro would do like a casesette battle back without soundwave or blaster, or they could, but that would be too much money, and they could do special repaints of the casesettes as like a year of the something exclusive, (I know with yotg soundwave), but wouldn't that be cool?

 

Pretty much my stance is unchanged. I don't think the 3p announcements will have an effect one way or another. I'm convinced HoistBreaker should happen soon regardless.

Hey, I still carry a torch for the fever dreams of MP Punch/Counterpunch and Road Caesar. I have no room to talk.

First, be wary of the Skids rainbow: I believe it was kibble who pointed out, quite rightly, that just because these repaints exist doesn't mean Takara expects them to be profitable enough to be worth doing.

Secondly, Trailbreaker was always inevitable. In this case, it's very true that what the 3rd parties are doing isn't influencing Takara in the slightest. He's coming along exactly where Takara always intended him.

For pedantry's sake, Hauler is not Diaclone. eHobby made his color scheme up in 2003. Neither, for that matter, is Artfire. His color scheme debuted in the Headmasters line in 1987. The only Diaclone releases of the Fuso fire truck and crane truck were pretty much identical to the Transformers toys of Inferno and Grapple.

On a different topic, I do like this theory some people have about 3rd parties rushing to get in before Takara, i.e. that an official Trailbreaker may be on the way.

We know Takara loves to re-use molds as much as possible, so they'd be also able to get: G1 Hoist, Diaclone Trailbreaker, Diaclone Hoist(am I missing any?). Surely he must be a real contender.

 

There are two different Diaclone decos for each version of the mold (blue vs yellow Trailbreaker, blue vs red Hoist), so that's six versions right there, if they want to do them all.

 

I already love Diaclone repaints, but Blue and Yellow Trailbreakers are going to look so boss. Like. They will look like real crappy trucks with campers on them. Man they're going to look stunning in Alt mode.

 

If you are into diaclone repaints,it would be a good excuse to buy every company's version  

 

Every company? Like 3p Diaclones? Nah. I enjoy my 3p figures (Just got crash hog and Dump yard today) but I'll stick to TT for the main carbots. I bought Willis but I think I may regret it sooner than later.

That's true - I'm not expecting to see EVERY SINGLE Skids release for the same reason we're never going to see EVERY SINGLE Bumblebee color, but the fact is we can squeeze out three from him easy the same way we have three Bumblebees, and I gotta assume each one is gonna do just fine.

And I should clarify, I don't think 3Ps are influencing TT to hurry it up on Trailbreaker - quite the contrary, I've heard mumblings in the past that some 3P companies have an insight into when TT is releasing which character and they might have some idea that Trailbreaker is coming down the pipe officially. Which I'd love; the 3P Trailbreakers are nice but I'm gonna pick the official guys every time. So maybe TT is about to show off a Trailbreaker prototype somewhere to hang out with Ironhide and Inferno and all the 3Ps are tripping over themselves to get theirs out before it's too late.
