Which is good for us, I guess. Sucks to pay more but if it's a choice between that and never getting them at all...

The Coneheads are pretty heavy remolds... I wonder if they'd ever give us a whole figure that way. You know, someone collectors would feel is "essential" but maybe not popular enough for a mass release.

Though, considering guys like Inferno are now getting released, I can't think of anyone that would fit that bill...

 

When they release scourge at some point, do you think you'll purchase multiples to complete the sweeps or will TT release slightly different versions of scourge in the form of sweeps (maybe not alter the mold but include different accessories, etc)?

 

I never bothered army-building the Generations Scourge mold, despite really liking it and the United/Generations differences making it easy to differentiate between a Scourge and Sweeps (I guess the metallic blue on the United one never did it for me), BUT I would army build a MP Scourge. I don't know if I'd do the standard three (what I usually do with troop building) for the Sweeps or just do two, depends on a hypothetical price.

As for whether Takara would differentiate them so there was an official Sweep release, I doubt it? I could easily see Scourge coming with 2-3 extra faces, and promotional photos conveniently displaying other Scourges with those extra faces alongside normal Scourge to pimp the troop building capability.

 

I can promise I won't. I did once upon a time for Classics, but the cost and space required to do so for MP...no thanks. Maybe if Scourge was my fave character and someone I wanted to dedicate that kind of space to, but he's not even close for me. But I'm not entirely sure they'll even get to Scourge at all... Guess it depends on how long the MP line continues without rebooting or refocusing.

 

Reflector? Skids? Overkill & Slugfest?

 

Skids would get a mass release, I think. Maybe Reflector, though... he (they?) was in the back of my mind when I was writing that, actually.

Overkill and Slugfest, I could actually see them doing alongside a Blaster, Autobot cassette two-pack, and Soundwave reissue.

As for Scourge, I wouldn't say he's a given... Show me Galvatron and then Cyclonus, and maybe then.

If slugfest an overkill ever happen, it'll be alongside blaster when cassettes are fresh on the market again.

I'm not entirely hopeful though, as I'd expect blaster himself to be cassetteless, with two two packs following his release to mirror the original like they did with soundwave.

Honestly I think I may drop my badcube TB preorder.... I'm thinking Takara will announce within the next year now, a la Inferno.

 

Okay, you know what, I don't think it's completely impossible it would be Skids that his happens too - probably less engineering than Reflector, he's gonna sell out of whatever limited quantity you make to both G1 completionists and Honda City Turbo fans (of which there are many!) but then you're not stuck with a ton of extra due to people that aren't into Skids for whatever reason. Me, I'd want one asap, but I know I'm kinda alone in this and he's probably the ONLY carbot I can imagine this happening to...even then, it's an outside chance.

 

There's really a miniscule chance that Takara would make any new-mold release a TTMall exclusive. They put too much money into it to then relegate it to a small-run, limited-edition offering. I was more suggesting a few niche, C- and D-list characters who are nevertheless in-show and thus have a better chance of getting made than somebody who isn't, like, say, Hubcap.

I'd say the odds of trailbreaker not happening right now are about 0.5%

 

Until this morning, I thought we would see Trailbreaker announced next year at Tokyo Toy Show

But I wouldn't be surprised if Takara changed their plans due to this announcements by third parties

Personally, tt doing a skids says to the fans they've run out of ideas and that they don't want to do major character reboots, like grimlock and maybe an mp optimus OR HEY, MAYBE A SUNSTREAKER OR BLASTER WOULD DO. I think Takara is going to have a partnership with hasbro to develop more masterpieces, which is an okay idea, but for now Takara needs to keep the diaclone repaints to a minimum.

 

The Diaclone repaints need to go full force into production. They are a great and easy source of revenue for TT to aquire and keep the green light on for the executives. And they also do not steal resources from the research and development teams.

Also doing major characters and reboots now would really be like shooting yourself in the foot. Give me Jazz Hound Sunstreaker and Mirage right now and I, along with many many other collectors, might just quit collecting this line. Then it dies. Give us B and C list characters while we are super interested and we buy them, AND we buy the major characters years from now. They want our money. I get that. And they get my money. Haha

 

OK. We got tons of Inferno 3p offerings and then the official. Same with ironhide too. Now I know that 2 examples are no where enough to make a case of proper speculation. BUT could you imagine if next month we get announcements of Hound Trailbreaker Megatron Insecticons or Reflector? Sigh* it probably WILL be Seaspray.

 

Would that first scenario make this the best year ever? Yes!!! Would your stated alternative make me upset? Not in the slightest.

 

haha yeah. If it really were Seaspray I'm sure it would be a pretty dope mold lol.

 

That or they don't want to end on a low note and are introducing characters that people bemoan as boring in the middle when people are still buying, so they can end on that high note that people think.. "Hey I finally got this figure I don't need any more" not like that is likely to happen...

But if they blew out all the interesting ones first and waited until the end to do the 'duds' people might check out of the line early
