I'm not so sure...where's the G2 Grimlock everyone is dying for? They haven't even done that one, so I wouldn't count on them doing anyone else in a G2 deco.

If they wanted to do a G2 Grimlock, I think they would have by now. Instead we got the King Grimlock repaint, which is awesome...but way out of my price range.

G2 Grimlock just swaps grey for blue, not near as different as Sideswipe who had multiple color swaps and new stickers. Also, there are 3 G2 Grimlock's, one is just G1, but still two others, so which do you go with?

G2 Sideswipe is definitely way more popular. He was G2 colors in the comics, Grimlock was grey.

Be patient,Takara is not stupid as per use a mold only 1 time,if there is anything that can save money,why not a G2 Grimlock,to them is anytime.

I don't know about "expect," but if Takara (or Hasbro, I suppose) ever wants a different type of repaint option, G2 is available for them for certain figures. Though it's not technically G1, G2 falls within the "G1 family" I guess since those redecos won't require new molds (maybe new parts, if they wanted to homage that electronic thingy that comes with G2 Starscream or his different null rays/launchers, G2 Sideswipe's bandolier).

Plus there are only a handful of G1 toys that got redecos in G2 (Optimus, Starscream, Ramjet, Sideswipe, Jazz, Grimlock, Slag, Snarl...plus Inferno, but he's basically the same), so it's not something that would come up for every toy. Some would feel like blatant money grabs (a G2 Optimus redeco wouldn't really be any different from MP-10 outside of the trailer, perhaps new rifles, and G2 logos), but that's hardly something Takara's shied away from either.

Hmm...I suppose G2 decos are viable enough for Takara to merit making them. I just don't think we'll see them until we get all the G1 repaints done first. Back to the subject of Sideswipe...shouldn't we have seen a physical prototype by now? We probably will at SDCC, but I just think we already should have seen one at this point.
