    1. As long as it's new characters and done with scale in mind (namely, Autobot cars, combiner members, minibots, Insecticons, etc.) then yes I'm good with smaller scale MPs that work with the previous releases.
    2. If licensing is the difference between getting a character released and not seeing it made, then license that baby. It's not a big deal for me with G1 stuff (I'm not adamant that an MP Sideswipe be a licensed Lamborghini or Bumblebee a licensed Beetle) so I guess I have no strong feeling on this either way unless licensing the alt mode is the only way certain stuff can be released by Takara.
    3. No, not at all. Classics and Masterpiece are, for me, two totally different lines. I know the recent MP-10 and MP Grimlock work well for some with the Classics deluxes, but I'm not big on the lines suddenly becoming interchangable. The MPs should be in scale with each other and Classics shouldn't even come into consideration. If some toys work well with Classics stuff, then that's a nice coincidence that some can choose to enhance their own collections. Making MPs with Classics in mind is not something I'm interested in.
    4. Yes, but with the caveats covered above. An MP Bruticus or Menasor should be solely an MP Bruticus or Menasor, not "Classics Bruticus or Menasor with some die-cast, rubber tires and/or chrome parts" or something of that sort. I may be a naysayer in this regard, I realize, but I'm not big on the idea of backdooring Classics and MPs into essentially the same line.

From a design standpoint I would love to see how they would execute Predaking and Devastator as they don't use the scramble city model of combining.

Alot of good points raised. Glad I posted my entree. I would like to see more in addition to these presuppositions:-

    1) If you read carefully, I indicate it to somewhat scale with Classics. So if you are referring to those heavy hitters like Onslaught (from the combaticons), he has to be similarly same in height with Prime. That would defeat the Deluxe and Voyager presuppositions.

    2) I noticed that many tend to assume licensed makes to ground vehicles. Good.

    3) Another point to note - MP does not necessarily means more die-cast or MUST HV die-cast. MP10 has proven the point that die-cast plays a very small role in the MP build of material. It is more on the engineering and also design.

    Okay, let's see more.

    Carry On.

I'm personally against the idea of using licensed vehicles since, as we have seen with the Alt/BT and Movie lines, it ends up being extremely limiting and usually ends up with ******ed repaints that don't make a lot of sense.

I'd also like to see them finish off the core characters of Classics-verse (ie: Trailbreaker, Blitzwing, Shockwave, etc.) before trying to inject a new sub-line of tiny MP figures into it. Basically, keep CHUG with CHUG, keep MP with MP, so on & so forth. The cross pollination thing rarely works imo.

Yeah. That's true. And that's why I said that i dont want the figures to be deluxe-voyager sized unless it is in scale with MP10.

For the car robots like jazz, prowl etc, a robot size that is slightly smaller than voyager would be in scale with MP10. But for iron hide/ratchet, the robot mode must be slightly bigger than voyager for it to scale accurately with MP10.

A companion line of toys that is released parallel to the MPs would be a great way for takara tommy to tackle all of the autobot car robots with quality that is superior to classics and a price that is more attractive than the MPs which was supposedly intended for commander class characters.

I am also 100% against this new companion line being compatible with CHUGS. This new line should be tailored to fit the MPs and should make zero concessions for the CHUGS.

And incidentally, I think the market is sufficient to support both the continuation of CHUGS as well as the introduction of this new line.

Need I remind that when I mentioned "somewhat scale with CHUGS" is based on my observation. I am not saying they are integrating the line into CHUGS. Hope tht is clear.

    I've thought more about this.

I mentioned I'm fine with a Classics-ish scale, since nothing's ever going to be perfect Despite MP-10's robot height, he's somewhat close in truck mode. Scale MP-10 down to his fan-ideal robot mode size, and you've got a puny truck. If it's at least somewhat close to Classics, you've already got a lot of characters covered that may not make the cut for being remade it a premium line and the characters(like combiners) that may require a step above retail toy limitations can still join your Classics. If a character is in both Classics and this MP-type line, it still doesn't harm either.

Something like a Bruticus would require a tank, helicopter, jeep and freaking space shuttle to be around the same size. In the absence of mass shifting in our world, I've got to accept that some comparions are going to be ridiculous and actual objects aren't going to work like cartoons. Superion would need some MP Starsceam sized limbs, and that's not going to happen.

I'm fine if minibots go either way. A small Huffer is silly when you think about it, but a Huffer close to Prime's size doesn't quite feel right. Either would still be a cool toy, I'm sure.

Considering Licenses once again, I'm all for it when it makes a better product even if I don't know exactly how it works. I know movie Starscream is licensed, but I'm not sure about MP-03 and MP-11. If they are, then it seems necessary for them. A Space Shuttle may really need to be licensed if that's necessary for accuracy, since there's only one type of that vehicle so it may be harder to fake like you can with a car. I assume that MP-10 is not licensed, but he looks great.

On a side note, were all G1 real-world specific vehicle models licensed? If not, don't the reissues require some sort of permission? If so, wouldn't the old licenses have run out and had to be renewed? I'm just curious about what made a Porsche Transformer from years ago fine to sell again while a new toy may not be possible.

Anyway, I'm fine with licensed models, but hopefully as a way that provides possibilities rather than limitations. Classics Jazz looks more like the character to me than Binaltech does and honestly many Binaltechs don't seem nearly as cool now that their hot new car mode models aren't so hot and new anymore. 80s cars would be great, but I don't know if car companies have a lot of interest in that. I'm pretty sure that many 80s cars are only iconic to me because they were Transformers, so I don't know how appealing they are in general. I wonder if old vehicle model licenses are inexpensive? That could be a positive.

I'm not interested in car replicas with the interior and turning front wheels. It's really impressive, but it can interfere with making the best transformation possible.

I dont know, I'm done spitting out nonsense for the moment. I've got lots of thoughts on this. No matter what exactly it is we're talking about here, I find it pretty exciting.

This has nothing to do with licensed vehicles and everything to do with piss poor planning, foresight, and adaptability. Alternators was a complete mess, but Binaltech slightly less so. This time they certainly ought to know better what they are doing, but that is not a guarantee I'll give you that.

Alternity is wonderful though. My only complaint would be that Megatron didn't have a cannon.

    Interesting questions!

    1) Is it in scale with existing MPs? This should be step one.
    2) Yes.
    3) Seems irrelevant, Classics etc are one line, Masterpiece are another. Wouldn't that then mean rebooting the MP line again, to ensure scale (see answer to 1)?
    4) See 1.

Generally - if robot-mode scale is finally going to play a part after all - I'm interested in the MP line just being in scale with itself, rather than trying to force it to fit with entirely separate line (i.e. CHUG)..

Far more interested in increased levels of articulation, design & transformation complexity, superb levels of finish, and ditching restrictive gimmicks (Grimlock's pointless, light up non-articulated hand, I'm looking at you). The MP line should be about intricacy & quality above all else, IMO.

    1. Eh, don't really have an opinion either way.
    2. See 1.
    3. Only for figures that are meant to tower over most TFs like Grimlock. I'd rather have them be in scale with themselves.
    4. See, I'm really interested in this. How would TT pull off a combiner? Would they release all the members separately? Or would they sell them all together? Or, and this is really out there, would the combiner be like an Action Master and not transform?

I don't care about scaling with CHUG or whatever, I want the MP line to scale with itself, otherwise it makes no sense. I think that the robot modes would need to be larger than voyager to scale correctly with existing MP's, but a smaller, more affordable sub-line would be good, assuming they're in scale.
Combiners would be AWESOME, but only if they scale with existing MP's.
By scale, I mean that the robot modes need to look good together, I don't mean a slavish 1:32 or whatever.
Oh, and I have no interest in licensed vehicles, as long as they look right that's ok.

I don't see why so many people think something like this would have to replace Classics (or CHUG, or whatever you want to call it). IMO, Classics didn't take the place in my collection of BTs/Alternators, and something like this would fill a different niche; higher (somewhat) end collectables. It's not like "oh, something new- now I gotta throw out all my Classics stuff and start over"; why does one gotta preclude the existence of the other?

    1) I figured that he would be around that size, for a "scramble city" model that would probably be the optimum size with Alternity sized limbs. I don't have any other references to use though at this point, as I don't own too many large classics figures. But I figured that it would be the best option to make these affordable to the general public, and yet still be reminiscent of the G1 days.

    2) Something I have to ask with this one, could (or is) potential licensing going to be extended towards aircraft? And if so does this mean that they are going towards outright realism and only vaguely referencing the G1 models?

    3) Die-cast hasn't really been a major factor since MP-01. I am going to totally assume that what you a saying is going from a design standpoint. And also that because they have stated that they are gearing towards a more "playability" factor that it is not really going to be a main feature for the forseeable future.

I'm down for this on a couple conditions:

    1) if they do this, these need to be less expensive. I can barely justify the cash for convoy 2.0, and the proposed price for mp magnus.

    2) if they want to keep the desired price range around the $200 mark, make them multi-packs with good accessories.

    3) I honestly don't give a crap about being in scale with the CHUG line, so long as it's in scale with itself and the "new" scale of the mp line.

Well, adding a driver/pilot with each figure would be pretty cool. Giving ones collection a nice set of scale and adding incentives to buying particular bots; " I already have a classics Sunstreaker but, this one comes with Hunter O'nion which is pretty cool so I ll buy this mini mp to."

Keeping the tradition of a character related accessory; Grimlock crown, Megatron kremzeck, Optimus Prime matrix, Wheeljack's Shockblast cannon, Cliffjumper's giant cannon stuff like that.

    1) Personally I want the MP line to scale with itself. MP09 and MP10 have set the standard for the line now as far as i'm concerned and when I say scale I mean the robot heights as portrayed in the G1 cartoon. Alt mode scale means nothing to me as I display my figures in robot mode.

Now using MP10 as the standard I feel in general there are about four tier sizes for the autobots .

Leader size - Optimus,Rodimus,Springer, Blaster all fit this size

The next size are the autobots that are as tall as the top of MP10's windscreens, these autobots are - ironhide, Rachet, Hoist, Trailbrealker etc

The next is the autobots who stand as tall as about the middle of the grey strip around MP10's waist, these autobot are - Jazz, Prowl, Hound, Mirage, Wheeljack, Tracks, Sunstreaker etc

The next is the autobots who stand the same height as MP10' junk - Bumblebee, Cliffjumper, Brawn, Huffer, Gears, Powerglide etc

The only exceptions to these sizes are Dinobots, Ultramagnus and Skyfire

Ultramagnus and the Dinobots should be the same height and bigger than MP10, Skyfire should be bigger again. I haven't bought MP08 Grimlock because he's just to damn small! and I don't plan too!

Generally I think these sizes reflect the cartoon and how big figures should be made. Grimlock > Optimus >ironhide > Jazz > Bumblebee. What do you guys think?

    2) Only interested in Licensed vehicles if they are the 80's cars portrayed in the G1 cartoon. Is it possible to make a Bumblebee alt mode that resembles a beetle without the licensing? If so then i'm happy! I just want the alt modes to resemble the cartoon.

    3) See 1

    4) Yes I would be interested in a cobiner. Size wise I would like a cobiner to be twice the the size of MP10 but the price would probably put this in the wishful thinking basket. I personally would be happy to pay $500-600 for a figure like this, but thats just me.

When I first discovered the MP figures in 2007 I was super excited! Then I saw the crazy up and down sizing between figures and it gave me flashbacks of the old G1 80's transformer toys.

I only own Mp10 and Mp09 as they are sized correctly and I plan on buying MP11 also. All I want from this line is constancy. I don't think shrinking it again for the possibility of combiners is a good move. Pick a scale and stick to it Takara! and do the whole G1 cast! I'll buy em all!
