Any way to identify the new Masterpiece Rodimus Prime MP-09 (V.2.0) by the outer box?

Yeah I think its taking a risk if you don't know which version the store is stocking when purchasing him. BBTS specifies which is which and HLJ sold out of V1 before V2 came in.

The TakaraTomy Rodimus is leaps and bounds better than the Hasbro one IMO.

Yeah... I got the old MP-09 thinking I got the second release. Oh was I mad, Lol. Sad thing is... ALL of the issues noted that could be wrong with him was wrong on mine. But the leg panels I can say this. Mine pop off but when I put them back on with a little pressure they secure back into place. Either way, I am going to get the second release in a few weeks from here. Least then I know for sure I will have the right one. As for the one I already bought, display only!!!

    Best Regards,

Is the Hasbro edition the 2nd or 1st run? Because mine has a loose left elbow, something I didn't expect...I'd prefer a Takara version anyways, should I see if I can get the money to buy one?

It is the second run. They fixed it before Takara did. But the Takara one from what I have been told fixed it a little more after Hasbro released the TRU.

Ah, thank you. Any ideas on how to fix that loose elbow? Or should I see about scraping up the money to get the Takara version, & maybe selling my Hasbro one?

Yeah! Thread comes back from the grave!

Seriously, I just started my MP Collection (got Megatron and G2 Sideswipe, with Jackie ordered) and I'm a huge Hot Rod fanboy.

Can someone upload a picture of the underside of the box showing where the production code should be? Since it's embossed I can't see it on the only picture of the box bottom I could find on the web.

As I understand it the V2 Rodimus fixes a couple of problems of V1, but retains a lot and even adds more. I think the general consnsus is the Takara v1 is actually the best of the lot, but even he is riddled with QC issues.

All I know is my v1 is still in one piece, but now I'm paranoid about breaking him so I don't dare get him out the box anymore...

Thanks, the shop I'm in contact has the supplier sticker on the whole section, so no ID possible apparently will just go on luck.

Forgive the phone pic, limited resources I'm afraid.

It's the "H2511" to the left of "TEL 06".

I have the V2 version. Though he's never been transformed since I only inspected the figure. Believe it or not he was just a part of my OCD to keep the collection complete. He's been boxed up since day one an has never left the collector storage area. MP-08 an 9 are the only 2 MP's I have left from before the reboot.

just fyi, a lot of mp collectors are starting to consider that V1 > V2 again due to breakage people are finding on their V2's all in the same spot. I believe this was on a orange hinge on the back where the backpack folds up, and a lot of people were reporting it happening.

V1 does have quite a few problems but nothing that really degraded over time like that.
