This thread is for posting your quality, high end pics. Lightbox pics, etc.

This is so we can separate the Cool Stuff thread and allow those who want to post their high quality pics a place to showcase their photos, and help those who want to improve their photography skills, while giving those who want to enjoy the Cool Stuff thread the ability to continue to do so otherwise as-is. This decision was made with the help of the feedback from many members over the course of many months.

Here's some guidelines:

• LIGHTBOX TYPE SHOTS ONLY, OR PHOTOGRAPHS WHICH MIND THEIR BACKGROUNDS: This thread is not for desktop or driveway photography. Use a background. Flexibility may be granted if utmost care is taken to ensure quality otherwise. No cellphone pics.
  
• PLEASE KEEP IMAGE SIZE TO A REASONABLE RESOLUTION: Preferably less than 1,000 pixels wide. Even though the forums will appear to resize your images, the entire file will load with every refresh and giant images will slow down the thread. Large images may be removed and the poster may repost a smaller version. Pics of a 2000-3000 pixel-wide resolution are always way too big and will be removed immediately.
  
• POSTS WHICH DO NOT MEET THE ESTABLISHED GUIDELINES MAY BE MOVED TO ANOTHER THREAD OR REMOVED: It's nothing personal, but this thread is designed to have a separate personality from the Cool Stuff thread with an emphasis on quality and helping your fellow TFW board member get things "just right."

We may adjust the guidelines going forward. But for the meantime, take some photos and have fun!

Well. Props to TJ, that's the first photo that's sparked any desire at all in me for that toy.

Wow, the colors on your pic look great. For a while there I thought the Hot Rod you had was Takara's because of the way the red looked. The one's I normally see look darker and duller.

 

I had started a thread for myself in the collections section, but this is more what I'm looking for! People who can appreciate their toys with great photography!

 

Thanks ExVee! You did a really good job in making the clearness of the blue still stick out. I bet it has to be hard with that cloudy color, but you still nailed it!

Thank you sir! I'll tell you what, nothing is so good at lighting up translucent plastic as a bright white background. And cloudy is actually a help, since that same effect easily washes out plastic with more transparency.

So, is Thundershred shot with the D90? I can't read the image info since it's in .png format, so I can't appear psychic anymore.

And man, with even these few pictures posted so far, looks like my super clear still has a ways to go. Time to get back practicing!

 

Yea, these are D90 now. No going back. I'm talking to TFare on Skypers now (I will be IM'ing you after posting this, lol), and the clarity and apeture are pretty easy to pick up and get a hang on, but now that things are more steady at the new home, I'm gonna be taking next week, since the Mrs. is doing a mission trip with a youth group she leads, and just digging into the multifocus and all that good stuff!

 

I'm a bit confused on the new thread separations. I want to continue to take pics to share and improve, and I use a lightbox, but I don't have a high end camera at all, and I kind of want to just continue getting by with what I have. I like photographing tf's but it's just a side hobby and not something I want to drop a crapload of money on just so I can post pics here.

So that leaves me not being able to post in the cool stuff thread anymore cause my stuff uses a lightbox, and not wanting to post the TOP OF THE LINE images here, because I know I can't achieve that with what I have. So now I have to stop posting because I don't fall into either thread guidelines? I guess my little fun hobby will have to be short lived.

 

I edited the rules in the Cool Stuff thread. You can still post there, the idea was to prevent people from posting in both all the time.
