So, is that all the advance notice you get with BBTS? For example, I have an item on pre-order with BBTS (my first p-o with them) that is estimated to arrive "4th quarter 2011". I know you can monitor any updates to that existing order when you log in to your account and "view pre-orders". However, when an item arrival date is as nebulous as anytime within the span of a 3 month period, I guess I'd hope to hear something a little more concrete as the stock arrival date nears, especially before my order is officially processed. But, if I'm judging this correctly, since I'm in the projected arrival window, I can anticipate an order process notification and my on file card to be charged any day between now and Jan 1 barring any delays?

 

Usually it just drops with a notice like that. Once in a while the newsletter goes out letting people know stuff is in stock but usually the preorders are processed by then. I'm not aware of any other way to get an idea when something will come in other than checking the listings.

 

ya, thats pretty much how it works. They dont send out a heads up first. Wolfe, PM me when your Kabayas come in if you want to sell your extras. I may not have got them by then

Thanks for the info. One other question, if your POL is "on", once a pre-order item arrives and is in stock, I know they charge your card at that point, but, is it only for the amount of the item itself or shipping as well? I imagine it's solely for the item because the cost of shipping is still unknown due to the nature of the POL system, but I don't want to assume anything. Businesses have been known to do stranger things.

 

You also pay shipping, if there is any. Sometimes if I get a really small item (say, Perfect Effect stuff) there's no shipping, but most of the time there's still a small shipping charge on top of the toy price itself, even if you pre-order.

 

They will charge you for the item and then .90 or however much per pound the item is depending on which shipping service you have selected. Pol is pretty handy to save on shipping.

 

As others have kind of said, you pay the shipping when the item comes into stock. The first item added to your POL will likely have the highest shipping since it will have the base shipping rate ($7.95 or whatever it is) attached to it, then as other items arrive, it only charges you the additional weight of the new items on your shipping, so it just adjusts it for the new weight. It is always nice when it is only 90 cents or so.
