I work part time at Toys R Us, and today Hasbro issued a callback on all the DOTM Mechtech Deluxe Crankcases. Has anyone got any idea why so?

Is it to do with his middle finger?

 

Possibly that middle finger? Posters here who picked up early releases have reported a some having clipped digits and others intact. Given that the fingers are very long and made of hard plastic, this could be a preemptive safety recall due to the imperfect fix.

 

Mine were already clipped, does that mean I get to hang onto mine?

If I go to toysrus tomorrow and find out there are no Crankcases I'm going to be soooooooooooo pissed.

 

They still have Crankcase selling on the website so how is it recalled?

Hmm, that's strange this comes up. I was at a Walmart yesterday and they had the entire Wave one out, HA, Cyberverse, Voy, Deluxe etc. and the only one I wanted was Crankcase and he was nowhere to be found. I know he is shortpacked as it is but, Ratchet and Roadbuster were present.

 

If my crankcase is not there tomorrow or clipped they'll be hell to pay, to much bad has been happening to me personally lately, to paraphase Milton "I'd...I'd told them I'd burn da buliding down......okay but thats the final straw."
Seriously this is really all lame..........Hasbro is really slipping if you ask me, and they wonder why they're losing money?

 

I was able to get a Roadbuster from a Target, and also asked for a "Black SUV with the name 'Crankcase'", the employee said he didn't see the SUV. I thought that was odd.

 

To be fair to Hasbro, the fingers arent made from soft plastic, and while the recall sucks for adult collectors, I'm pretty sure a multi-million dollar lawsuit when little Timmy pokes his eye out is best avoided.

Yes but, how does something that blatant make it to distribution? Aside from the headsculpt on this guy, the first thing I noticed were the dual birds. And this was months ago (or more) on the first testshots.

 

The fingers are made of bendy plastic on mine (the European version if that helps). Same kind of plastic as his horns/scissors. They are pretty long and look pretty pointy, though. I'm glad that I got my Crankcase.

On a different note: the legends version has much harder pokey bits on his arms. Those look somewhat more dangerous, because they aren't bendy like on the deluxe.
