Over the years, a lot of toys based on, in homage to or intended as an upgrade for G1 Prowl have been released. While some (such as the Machine Wars toy, a redeco of MW Mirage, or the non-subline/later Universe 1.0 Spy Changer) have been merely toys vaguely resembling the G1 character given a new deco, others are more obviously based on the G1 guy. However, these toys sport a lot of different head sculpts, which, while all based on the G1 character and his toy to some degree, differ in many aspects. Some are closely based on the original toy, others are closer to the animation model, whereas others try to blend elements of the two and yet others try to innovate the design while retaining a few key elements. Which head do you like the most?

Note that this is only about the toys. I've left out a myriad of cartoon screencaps and interpretations by various comic book artists, and the animation model is only included for reference.

Apologies for the bad photos of Attacktix Prowl, all I was able to find was a Hasbro stock photo and several small pics of an unpainted test shot on eBay. The Alternators Prowl prototype is included for reference because the painted head shows the details better than the pearly white plastic used for the final toy. The first photo of Robot Heroes Prowl is also a Hasbro stock photo.

It's a tie between Alternators and Classics Prowl for me.

Universe Deluxe and Alternators for me. All the others make his smile too big and make him look insane.

For those who own G1 Prowl, is the plastic used for the reissues really a lot more pearly white than on the vintage one? Looks like it in all the photos I could find.

Also, the degradation of the face certainly isn't as bad as on Jazz, but it's there. Then again, the mold had quite a few production runs between Prowl, Bluestreak, Smokescreen and various reissues of the three.

Alternators followed by G1. Universe/Classics isn't doing much for me, it's not bad, just "ok"... a bit bland or something.

Alternators Prowl. Probably because he is the closest to the G1 toon head, IMHO.

I like these threads, Nevermore! Any plans for the big four (Optimus Prime, Megatron, Bumblebee, Starscream)?

Alternators. Classics would have been my favorite, but I don't like how the face looks there, bit depressed.

Going with Action Master Prowl this time around. I like his proportions in that sculpt. It would be even better if he had blue eyes.
