Just a quick question here, a friend of mine recently picked up a RTS Perceptor online and is about to return the toy for a refund because the toy "falls apart" whenever he tries to pose or move it.

The part that "falls apart" Is Perceptor's backpack section, where it doesn't really hold onto anything. I've had the same issue with my Perceptor as well, but I just ignore it, get him into a stable position, and display him.

My question, is this a typical thing for Perceptor as a mold? And are there any transformation steps we're missing or things we could do to fix this?

This problem has been discussed a couple of times in the TFW toy review section for Perceptor: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-feedback/352214-reveal-shield-perceptor.html

I myself had no problems with locking Perceptor's backpack into place quite firmly, at least, that's something I only found out after a full day of messing with him. The tabs to lock his backpack up ARE there, but they are most certainly not intuitive or described well in the instructions. Most importantly, it involves the gray slot in the part on which his head slides up and down, and the black tab on the part which attaches to his teal 'windscreen holder'.
    Good luck with it!

I think it might be. I have the same problem on mine where it more or less has a mind of its own :D  It either decides to "lock in" or it doesn't. I can see where the slots go for it to "snap" together, but....half the time when I'm transforming it from alt mode to robot, .......I have to fight with it to get it to hold in place.

There is no problem with his backpack when transformed correctly.

  I'm pretty sure I'm doing it right. Even had the instructions laid out while doing it. But still not sure why the backpack still comes off at times when I try to pose perceptor or if I move the arms.

I never even knew this was an issue. Mine has been perfectly fine (ie solid backpack) since the first time I transformed him.
Not bragging, just the truth. :)

    your not doing it right,

There is a tab on his backpack that goes into a black hole....BUT on the other side of that black hole is a PEG. That peg goes into a second hole that is located on the gray piece that slides his head up.

You have to line all of them up and it will snap together perfectly.

I just tried it that way after Razerwire posted, but it still won't stay in. I've made sure the head is all the way up, and everything is lined up, but the darned back pack manages to pop itself out anyway especially if I go to move his arms. However, if I leave him alone just standing there its fine. I guess I'll just leave him be.

There's the peg, the slot, and the two top shoulder pins. I posted a photo in the feedback thread a while ago.

Post a pic of yours. The shoulders sit low when it's not tabbed in correctly.

Ditto. I have everything pegged together correctly, but it still comes undone extremely easily. Not sure if one of the tabs is just broken/worn down or what.

Just watched it. The peg he says he superglued is the one giving me trouble, it just won't stay pegged in tightly. Maybe I'll try thickening it.
