Went to see if TRU or Smyths had a Weirdwolf while replacing my computer chair (yay Staples extended warranty). No luck but did finally get a Crashbash! Also ran in to a fellow collector, Nattered for a few minutes about the new toys. Was nice to randomly meet a fellow fan in the wild like that.

Just been to tescos, £11 for the TR legends, rewind and wheelie look really nice but just seems a lot for what they are. Sign of the times I suppose.

Stevil - nice shot with despotron, hope you're all enjoying your Megatrons, I'm now going to be playing the waiting game on the official I think.

What have you been up to today, Chris?
    Uh, not much.

Not quite up to Toyhax or Hasbro standards, let's call the more snaggly bits, er...battle wear. Yeah, he'll be battle worn.
Had a quick look at the translations, just to make sure non of ramp text is 'THIS IS METROPLEX' because this is already full frontal Nerdity and that would be daft.
Also noted on the sheet that the Left and right inside leg stickers will be swapped for Max but I'll probably just be using the outlines for them to make some Repair Bay and Jail Cell detailing.
I think a part of me knew I'd end up doing something like this. :rolleyes2

    Oh dude, I'm so sorry.

Don't have any wish to rub it in, but...

Has been fascinating comparing Maketoys Despotron and DX9 Mightron this afternoon. What a day! Maketoys' bot mode is glorious, as you'd expect, and I love how the upper half of the body transforms. Found the leg panels had the ever so slight sniff of Apollyon about them when transforming to gun, although let there be no mistake - both of these figures are leagues ahead of the XTB effort in every respect. Surprisingly though, DX9's gun mode is better I think, and I love the shape shifting gimmick of the arms and legs in the transformation. That face sculpt, too, is effing glorious, as is the cannon size on the arm. Shite hands, though. And in his case, the upper transformation is a bit fiddly, but overall it's a pretty even battle.

Overall I think Maketoys just wins out because even though DX9 has the better alt and probably the better transformation, the Maketoys bot mode is absolutely incredible.

I'll be keeping hold of both for now. Should the Takara Megatron turn out to be the real deal (which surely is must) then I'll have to consider Mightron's place on the shelf. So keep an eye on my sales thread!

Thanks for that! Glad I went with Despotron now. Just screams power, menace and quality. Might rom is cool too, but couldn't get over the funny placement of the legs/calves.

The TT version looks good but off to me too. The abdomen apes the proportions of the much used scale chart pic perfectly, but to me the proportions in the pic are off too, just badly drawn by an artist trying to make him tall and menacing by looking at him from low down and having him look tall with long legs to the forefront, if you know what I mean. Like a perspective drawing? Badly explained but, hey, sorry!

Yeah, I thought it was a pretty sensible thing to do so you don't spoil how good or bad it is.

Thanks for your words guys. I tried giving Ebay a call but the guy said I had to wait till the 12th before I could make a fuss. I suppose I'll just wait till then.

    I've DONE EET!

They were £12 in my local Asda the last time I looked. Made me glad I'd pre-ordered the Takara versions, for the extra few pounds I get a nicer deco, a Headmaster, and a cool box.

Your pic makes Despotron look smaller than Prime.

    I mean it's a blank post.

All you guys getting Megatrons and I'm just itching to get home to UW Computron. Missed that guy all day.

Need to team them up with their Calib-Yau commander Jetfire. Just wish I had a suitable Bludgeon to pit them against.
