Try FOC Magnus' gun (I've filed the stupid top-peg off) it works surprisingly well as a bulky handgun.

I've also used one of Hardbone's guns (the colours clash but I might repaint It Gray) and one of Powermaster Op's big fuck-off black canons....all look pretty good. I think Warden just looks great loaded up with almost anything now.

His BFG is on Brave Max right now and that works surprisingly well too.

I need Magnus' gun for the sword, so that's out, and Hardbone would sulk if someone took his away. I was thinking about PM Prime's black gun myself; I'll dig one out.

I think the reasons why Animated stands out more than Prime is because it actually dared to do something different.

It's why Beast Wars did well as it means that all characters are clean slates. We never really learnt anything about Optimus in Pirme because he did nothing but act stoic. But in Animated we saw what made the bot and those around him.

Megatron was just stunning in Animated. My favourite version of the character hands down.

Plus it brought us Lugnut and Bulkhead. The first of which needs to be in the next cartoon. Optimus has Ironhide and Megatron should have Lugnut.

I think I need to go watch it again, might take me a bit to get back into the animation style but it's worth getting into.

Oh yeah, saw kreon microchangers in Forbidden planet London the other day, the preview wave at 99p each if anyone wants. Did find wave 3 in Morrisons earlier too! Got Huffer who is rad, going to have to go back and find Guzzle, that guy looks boss.

Something I'll give Animated over even Beast Wars is that it rarely felt like it was trying to sell toys, and put it's story before pretty much everything else. Outside of Prowl's samurai gear and Optimus' flight gear towards the very end we avoided the 'upgrade' nonsense to sell new toys every season. As a result nearly every main character (definitely on the Autobot side) has a really strong, developed story arc, in which they all find some resolution. It's a really satisfying experience that no other TF show (and to be honest most shows in general) provides.

For me one of the standout moment was Lugnut spouting the usual 'Megatron is great' stuff & Megatrons' eye is twitching away.

I'll admit Animated didn't exactly grab me at first but beneath the simple animation style there was some dark moments. Some of Ratchet's flashbacks are especially bleak.

I'll have to search FP later this week in that case, there's still a few in the preview and 1-2 waves I'm after :)

    Thanks!

Watched the first 6-8 episodes of Animated when it was broadcast in the UK, and I thought it was childish nonsense, a bit like Ultimate Spider-man is today. Never understood its popularity.

I loved Prime, seems like it was aimed more at us adult collectors!

Prime certainly has its moments, and the animation is great. It comes across a bit too serious at times though, and when I watch it I frequently end up wishing Ratchet and Wheeljack painful deaths. However Smokescreen is a great addition, and I'd say the series was more hit than miss by Beast Hunters/the end.

Still yet to get round to Animated. It seems to have a good rep in these parts!

Well, it is a kid's show. Animated was a fun show designed to appeal to children.

It's worth watching season 1 to get to the finale. Megatron rising. Is perhaps one of the best told transformers they have made and craps all over anything that Prime did for a season finale.

Plus this scene is just outstanding TFA: Megatron Rises - YouTube I love the animation as Megatron is reconstructed. But thought the animation can be considered hit or miss, the storytelling to top notch.

If they were only able to do Megatron one more time, his helicopter form done in a Classics style would be it. It oozes power, cuts an imposing shape and looks more like Megatron than anything that came out afterwards.

Animated deals with far more complex and mature themes than Prime ever manages to. The amazing thing is that it manages to do so whilst remaining fun.

It's also the only TF show where the Decepticons have ever managed to have a serious political motivation.

It's also the only show to have painted the Autobots as a less than squeaky clean operation, rather than the bland force for justice that Prime does. Animated actually calls into question whether the 'good guys' are actually that good at all. Something that has developed further thematically within the current IDW comics and finally given a 'G1' universe some weight to it's backstory.

for what it's worth I enjoyed Prime, but I find nothing mature or adult focused about grimdark, gloomy storytelling. Animated managed to tell its story on many different levels, and in fact tell many individual stories for it's characters without having to make them the focus. To me, that level of nuanced storytelling makes it far more developed, professional, and maturely handled than Prime ever was.

I really feel anyone who gave up on it should really try again. It's worth it.

Seems there's a lot of love for animated, might dig out a few episodes on youtube, let's just hope it doesn't make me want to buy the toys though MP is enough, although it's too quiet for releases right now. Still should have some pics of fat slag soon and I think were getting some news for warbotron around the end of the month too.

Evening, anyone after the MMC Dazzling glory set for Hexatron?
    10 binbags?

Edit: Really not sure about animated, thought I'd give it a go none the less but every video on youtube says not available in your country! Perhaps its a sign?

Next edit: Anyone got a linky by chance, I seriously can't find one to watch!!

Got any pics of that mode at all? That sounds perfect.

Price raised for Stax and Krank a while back when the pre-order finished but I think they are likely in the next few weeks. Depends on the Chinese New Year.

I'll have to try that FOC Magnus sword. I know what you mean about the BFG that's why I tried Warden with the Dr Wu Rainstorm pistol and love it! Not sure if the Chaingun works or not.
As RAR said a Dr Wu Prime Sword works well too. The Kabaya sword is nice but the peg is a little thin fit.

I originally thought I would not display him with the tracks on but not sure now as he looks awesome with them. I don't have room on the shelf for the BFG to be held at the same time though, too tightly packed.

Thanks mate, that works a treat.
I kept hearing a clicking sound coninually, had no idea what is was.........bloody instant messenger.
Just muted that, I'm going in, episode 1 here we come.

I was hovering over the buy button on Stax and Cubex a good month or so back but never committed, then the prices went up and it became a pass on all 3 offerings.

Nice pics, hes such a badass.

I think some fans are always going to have trouble getting over the aesthetic of Animated, I can recall my not too positive reaction to seeing the first promo images - not that I thought it was bad, just that I questioned it's suitability for Transformers. But that was all forgotten when I watched the three parter back in December 07.

As you say there is plenty of nuance in Animated in terms of plot and characterisation. It dealt with weighty subjects such as war, prejudice, loss, vengeance, sacrifice, guilt in a way that few Transformer shows have. I like Prime, but it never managed to achieve the uniqueness of Animated or hit the highs of it's storytelling.

Posted in wrong thread, reposted here:

How accurate is the current Hasbro UK site? I mean, it has a very different selection to (and a lot less information than) the current US version, but has the Generations toys from the Waspinator/Rhinox/Cosmos wave only. Does that mean the entire wave is definitely coming to the UK? But there is also no mention of BH Prowl or Sharkticon Megatron or Metroplex or the Masterpieces, and all those have been seen in the wild already...

Is it as inaccurate and as untrustworthy as first impressions would have it? Most importantly, have they previously shown stuff as coming out that never actually made it? If not, then I shall wait patiently for Waspinator and Rhinox to get their official release.
