Get the Eness transfers - I had a traitor with those on and he looked awesome. Recommended.

I am pretty sure that Fortran was invented as some form of cruel and unusual punishment. Why the hell are you doing assignments in Fortran?

I suspect that this is a timing issue. The nuclear age began (if I am right) around the 80s, and Fortran was the next big thing at the time, before object oriented and even procedural programming got a resurgence. As a legacy, its easier to update what you have rather than starting again in a new language and introduce a fresh case of potential bugs. Fortran programmers mostly retired around the 90s, briefly were dragged out of retirement with the panic of Y2K (for the same reason, I hear that the central phone switchboard is written in Fortran, wrapped up in something better like C) and then vanished. Fortran is the computer equivalent of Latin.

Urgh. I have avoided Python simply because the entire world seems to be hailing it as the next big thing. I would rather learn Ruby. I did like Prolog and LISP, though (although I havent used them in so long I can barely remember a thing!).

Ummmm..... Sorry? :D  I have found that I really like the more simple wind up versions. They are cheaper, but because they are so much smaller are not such a bargain to buy.

Thats pretty largely over stating things. One thing I love about this thread is the acceptance that different people collect for different reasons. Its entirely valid to be a collector without even a passing interest in the MP line.

Umm... Nope. But, we have already established that I am, at best, in the minority, and possibly mad. :D  I have zero interest in scale or cartoon accuracy. To be honest, both of these reasons seem utterly crazy driving forces to me, but... c'est la vie.

Now, if you could just put one of those launchers in front of his face! :D  I still have not opened my MP Smokey, but I think that the launchers not being integrated is my biggest disappointment. I just assumed that they would be, like the other two.

    So, today, do I open....
    - Prime AM Cyrus Breakdown
    - Prime AM Wildrider
    - Prime Croc Out
    - MP Smokey
    - TW Aurora?

    Open TW Aurora.

Did anyone get a Bio Card with Warden?? Seen a pic of one but don't think there is supposed to be one included.

They aren't perfect but they are really sweet! Lots of stuff with them and very poseable. The alternative is the 2 packs. They come with helmets and a special Alien version

Not by choice that's for sure!!! Really is punishment. The latest laugh at my expense is that it's bitching that I defined a function as double precision, which of course was entirely wrong because of the presence of an entirely unrelated subroutine just above it. Second I deleted that subroutine (since I've made it redundant) the damn fucking thing decided to start playing ball. Except, it's giving me a chi-squared value of exactly the same for 0.01 as for 0 (which it really shouldn't).
Another laugh it's having is importing my data from .txt and changing all of the values by 0.00005, which is making tracking performance against an Excel spreadsheet I've got set up more difficult than it should be.

It's a sad, sad, sad day when MS Excel is a better programming base than the one you're using.

But yeah, I'm dealing with fortran77 (not even bloody f90) because I'm training up as a nuclear technician/safety dude/whatevs (haven't decided on a particular career path yet).

They tried to teach us Python in second year of undergrad. We laughed and never turned up again. Their fault for trying to force us to use an overcomplicated language/system for something as simple as Newtonian mechanics.

Wow... That's some weird crutch gap =S

The only good thing , if you can call it that is that everyone here who wants one will already have one so when they go on clearance you should get one pretty cheap.

Which one, the 1/100 Kotobukiya model kit that's out in April or the 1/48 Three A articulated model that's out in August? If the former, I'm not getting it (though I've always been a bit tempted by their Rex) but I will have an order shipping from Hobby Link Japan that month, so let me know if you want me to get it from them and combine postage costs. I can't promise it'll evade customs so you might have to pay VAT on top of the regular price, but I'll handle the handling fees. HLJ's price on the Koto-Ray is the equivalent of about £40, while the Three A version is an eye-watering £260.

    Wildrider.

At AutoAssembly I bought Masterpieces, Magmatron, alternity. But the toy I like the most out of my haul was Wildrider. Just a fun toy and seems to work far better than Wheeljack did for some reason.

Plus a mammoth micron that turns into a grenade launcher. Nuff said.

Cheers for those, disappointed that the helmets only come with the 2 packs with an Alien. Don't want figures of the Xenomorphs, just Hicks and Hudson so will probably just go with the single packs. But in the 2 pack, it seems Hicks comes with his shoulder light accessory also.

There is no bio card with Warden - that card you have seen is actually a calendar.

I got it with mine, and its just a piece of card with a picture of Warden on one side, and then a tiny calendar on the back.

You really are not missing anything, and people keep mistaking it for a bio card.

Actually I was probably thinking that Prowl might be worth getting with a discount voucher from TRU.com as it will likely be cheaper. Besides the USA one might have a better decoration - Prowl Might even sell out (after all Thundercracker did) but I can't see the dogs Breakfast that is MP Red Alert selling out.

The fact they are releasing a second run of him indicates that he's not what you think he is.

I get it - you're not that keen on MPs. But no need to snipe/throw mud at them.

Is it the best representation of G1 Red Alert? yes. Case closed your honour.

I wonder if a lot of those that don't like MPs actually grew up with G1. Not bashing anyone but to me the MP stuff seems to be more popular with the older people on this board.

Its each to their own. I just hate when people try to crap on other peoples likes. All the Warden love, I don't collect that particular style of fig, but you know what, I've enjoyed seeing all the pics, I think hes a fantastic figure, but I don't like him enough to buy him .....

But that doesn't stop me enjoying him vicariously through other peoples pleasure. Certainly wouldn't disrespect anybodys figures by mud slinging insults.

Everyone obviously likes Transformers, some G1, some BW, some trilogy etc etc. There are many different tastes out there, one mans trash is another mans treasure.

Today has been an utter pig, so I may not have time to open any. I like to be able to enjoy the experience.

I don't think anyone is disrespecting any toys here. Certainly worse things have been said about Universe Galvatron and MP03.

I grew up with G1. Its in my blood. But that doesn't make me an automatic fan on the MP line. I am not trying to reconstruct a 30 year old cartoon on my shelf. Not sure why that is doing toy collecting wrong.

Im 22 and the only thing other than MP's I collect is a few Beast wars figs. I was brought up around G1 toys because of my older brother and then beast wars.

I only stated collecting in 2012 and fell in love with G1

Can we all at least agree that the Prime Blackarachnea deluxe is a pile of shit? I haven't seen anyone disagreeing with that....

The face sculpt on Neca Hudson is hilarious - perfect for putting in front of your most disturbing toys - some of the pics people have taken are a hoot.

I agree about Warden, he does look like an amazing figure and I've been hovering over the buy button a few times but apart from being a head for Fort Max his other alt modes do nothing for me but it doesn't stop it from being a very well made and highly posable figure and wouldn't bash it for what it is. My first exposure to transformers was G1, being 40 and all but lost interest after the movie so a lot of what happened with the brand after that is a bit lost on me and didn't buy anything until MP 01 came out but I've never been interested in beast wars or the Unicron trilogy but I have watched prime but apart from a figure or 2 most of them to me haven't been up to much and I have no idea why I'm typing all this, must be old age. Basically I'm a G1 guy.
