In other news today I dropped in orbital comics in London and met James - a sound chap! The shop was suitably rammed with tf stuff - loads of comics too! And the tf 86 movie soundtrack was playing upon my arrival.

    Amazing.

I'm surprised none of the 3rd Party companies have tackled Liokaiser yet.

Good point. I was putting mine out on display today and while they're great there's just something that feels a bit off.

That's quick. I'm waiting till the have Skids then I think I'll grab him and Hoist.

It's in production at the moment and there are no coloured prototypes even available yet so I wouldn't be worried for the time being.

I think what some people fail to understand is a prototype is a test of the mold. It's not the finished product, nor does it represent the finished product because cheap plastics are used just to make sure the toy fits together once cut off the sprues. It's to make sure there are no defects and that's it. Protos from HasTak can be utter crap as well because they aren't intended to get into the hands of fans; the "protos" that most people are familiar with are late stage ones or lunchtime specials.

Nellie is under the impression that a prototype of a toy released by a different company a year ago is representative of virtually every third party company's upcoming releases :lol

Unique Toys' Warhawk was a mess. After that everyone involved left the company and UT was taken over by someone else. The rest of UT products haven't been plagued with the same problems although the proto of one of the legs had slightly loose ankle tilts (OH GOD THE HORROR!1!). Not sure how many times I need to post it here but companies develop and because UT's first release was shit it doesn't mean everything they ever release will be shit. The Sharkticons have got glowing reviews but again some people were convinced they'd be shit cause Warhawk was. Anyone own Defender by Fansproject? Heap of floppy shit that can't stand up. Even by the time they did the Insecticons they'd improved on that. MMC's Shockwave had tabs that snapped off easily (from what I know) but hey, teething problems. X-Transbots' Devastator set wasn't great so they learned from that and their products have improved.

We can turn into the third party forum and presume that every third party release that isn't MMC is going to be shit but it would be nice if we could keep that mentality and the "super secret sources" in that forum rather than having it here too cause it doesn't give companies a fair chance. Ha there's even someone in the UK claiming to have protos of Warbotron in hand but they can't show them to anyone...yeaaaaahhhh okaaaaaay.

No company churns out amazing toys from day one so lets wait until Huffer and Pipes are in hand and then if they are shit then fair enough they are shit. I think my review on MF of KFC's products (and my assessment of Rhinohorn here in this thread) were pretty fair in saying they were cool toys but the quality wasn't 100%. At Pubecon I happily demonstrated how some 3P stuff is incredibly well designed but joint flaws have spoiled them (Rhinohorn's floppy horn for example oooh er!) So if X-Transbots Huffer and Pipes are arse then I won't make a secret of it either and I'm sure Andy won't as we are both collectors and fans first. Plus if you guys are gutted at paying £50 for a heap of shit then think about how pissed off Andy and I will be at paying thousands for those heaps of shit :lol

No worries dude. Was awesome catching up with you again (although briefly) and nice to meet some of the guys from here who I hadn't met before.

Hope everyone enjoyed getting to play with the 3P stuff, will probably do the same next time so people can see this stuff in person and see what's good and what isn't rather than relying on reviews. Next time if people let me know what they want to see I can bring it along as there were certain things I would have brought but thought others were bringing (loose MP-11 and Hexatron for example). I was actually going to bring Metroplex but maybe next time.

All I will say is first impressions are the most important. These last the longest. A lot of people still don't rate most 3rd party companies at all.

Did I ever say I claimed all 3rd party releases are representive of that war hawk that I saw in March. Did it put Andy off stocking them? Yes. Did it put me off buying them? Yes.

All based off first impressions. There were 6 people in that room that day that thought fuck that.

That was that instance. As for x-transbots huffer I was only repeating what I had heard and doing so for a reason - letting people know of the early thoughts that some people who had handled it have an opinion of for a topic of discussion not out right flaming a company.

    Hi there everyone

Just joined this website and have been reading this thread for a couple of weeks now to see what the general uk transformer news and opinions are on new releases etc.

Have only been collecting for over a year now but quite hooked on collecting and all the latest IDW comics especially mtme.

Started off buying a g1 jazz off ebay last year as a one off which prompted me to get a few more g1's but ended up never stopping and pretty much getting obsessed with everything transformers related ever since.

Also went to auto assembly what was one of the best conventions ive enjoyed!

Just thought I'd introduce myself as I'm very new to any kind of forum lark. This is pretty much the only post ive ever done on any kind of forum and some of the U.S threads get a bit derranged and insane from what I've read :S but this by far is the best thread ive found :thumbs2:

Most forums are weird, some are downright hostile, occasionally you find a nice one. TFW is all of those things. Welcome to the UK thread, you've picked an excellent place to start.

    Welcome to the forum.

Being fair to Nellie I've heard the same "rumour" and that's as in heard rather than reading it on here but I'm still buying Huffer from you Morg - because I think most recognise that Protos are just that, not the final deal. I've got X-Trans devy-bits and they ain't that bad, they work on my old Junker G1 Devs and no-one is expecting the aodd on bits to what was a heap of shit to suddenly make that thing look like Giant.

UT is a different kettle of mostly rotten fish entirely, I've still got their first two Preds and they ARE shit, I've handled the two follow on Preds and even at reduced prices I wasn't having them. Despite the fact that I actually like the look of the combined form I'm not plunking down money to finish off a pretty poor bit of work. I can't speak about their Sharkys cos I have no real interest in em but if they are better bits of kit than their Preds then fair enough.....a company should learn and improve but consumer experience does count and my experience with them so far shouts "stay the fuck away" - maybe that'll change if they ever get round to offering something I am interested in.

I'm really hoping the Cubex offering WILL live up to the hype, in which case my X-Trans can stay in Alt mode if his build QC is dicey and I won't feel I've lost out.

Fucking loving smart Robin. If I could actually post pics from this crappy platform I would enable the fuck out of it.....best FP Bot yet by miles.

    Stop the Orion enabling!!!
Before seeing those pics I had decided to pass on him.:mad

    Really nice pics:thumb

    I say cross the line.
You're a Transformers fan so don't see it as 3P vs Hastak. See it as a bunch of companies making toys for you.
So you just choose what you like and buy...no loyalties.
