Not really, every customer is different but most just want to read something they'll enjoy and don't let the name of the publisher stop them from doing that. Overall Marvel is more popular than DC, but Batman is easily our best selling character in comics and TPBs.

Thanks for the kind words about the store, always appreciated!

And yeah, Vertigo went downhill when the WB higher-ups found out how much of the output they didn't own and made them change the contracts for newer stuff. Most creators took their work elsewhere, which was a huge boost for Image, who are now the place for the independent creators.

It'd produce more if the editors would step back and let the creators do their thing. Sales are dropping fast on New52 books, Batman is one of the few still selling more than it did Pre52 for me.

I think Snyder is a great writer, but I don't think his New 52 Batman is up to par, Court of Owls was overly long, and Death of the Family was plain awful, it wasn't even a Joker story, it was a Riddler story sold as a Joker story, and all the spin off tie-ins were dreadful. Joker is anarchic, not Moriarty to Bat's Holmes.
And don't get me started on Harley Quinn...

Still, at least TF comics are consistently great.

Congrats to all birthday people and non-UK residents of the UK thread!

I dont know what is happening in Singapore since I got here. It used to be the place for TFs but then you guys got MP Soundwave before we did, then Kapow manages to get MP cars faster and cheaper than they appear on shelves over here, and now it seems that the wave containing Crock-Out has been entirely skipped over in Singapore while it is available on shelves in Blighty. All this since I moved over.... you dont think that there is a link... Do you?

I only got in on one New52 title, and that was only because of a twin combination of having the full original 90's run and Dan Abnet as writer. And that was Resurrection Man. Its such a good premise, but really needs longer story arcs than a single comic each.... and then, of course, it was cancelled after about 20 issues. Pretty badly handled in general, I think, although it suited me as I wasnt sure what I was going to do about keeping up when I moved abroad.

Is it wrong that I really want the Megatron version most right now... mostly because he comes with the hottest pit girl? :stick:

Also, finally got my PE Aranea over the weekend, after stellar work from Kapow having to send it to me twice due to the postal system! Thanks Andy.

This girl is basically a 70 GBP deluxe figure that was delayed for about 6 months.... and if I could go back to myself before I ordered her I would tell myself to get her now!

I havent transformed her, but she is awesome. If Quakewave is the 3P answer to the MP line, Aranea is the 3P answer to the Hybrid THS line. She is a lot heavier than she looks with diecast, beautifully painted, and very well articulated, including a ratchet in the ab crunch.

She is going to commandeer one of my Act 5 Stages and sit on my work desk and whisper in my ear all day!

I think it's too much of a coincidence to discount. I think the only reasonable course of action is for you to stay over there, so the rest of us can retain our early/cheap plastic crack.

Your sacrifice (for the greater good) is appreciated.

Yay - good to see you got time to play with him. He is my favourite of the bunch followed by Prime, Megs and Saber in that order.

Yeah, agree with that. It does not help that they seem to be making all of their characters really generic. Green Arrow and Nu-Lobo in particular have lost a lot of what made them interesting.

A lot of it seems like change for changes sake. All of the comics in the line seem to fit the same tone as well, with everything being ultra dark. It was better having a range, so you could read a lighter book if you wanted.

I enjoyed Demon Knights, its a shame that got cancelled.

But it does not seem that the New 52 has generated the long term buzz it was intended to. Even so, I still prefer it to Marvel

I loved Court of Owls, though I read both trades really excitedly. Have not read Death of the Family yet, but I did really enjoy Court of Owls. I did not think it was too long either, as it covered a lot of ground but all of it was interesting.

Zero Year is sort of weird, as its good but owing to the name and the fact its Batman new origin - its impossible to not compare it to Year 1.

I also enjoyed Morrisons run on Batman Inc, but then that felt like nothing had changed.

Its funny that the one thing that bugs me most is actually quite a small thing, and that was the shift in Mr Freezes origin. Making it so that Nora was not actually his wife, and that he is just nuts robs the character of that tragic element and makes him just another nut case.

I'm sure I read somewhere that the autobot symbol is actually based on Prowl's face.

Aye, I'm up for this. I can do either date, though the 16th may be slightly better.

Any other northern (like, north of the watford gap)-types playing out?

Ugh, that is a horrible change for Freeze.

I'm willing to accept that I might be overly critical, but comics are £ for £ the most expensive form of entertainment on the market, especially in an age where we have an almost unlimited source of media for free (legally) with youtube. When I look at my bookshelf I see very few comics from the last half a decade, and while I'm willing to concede that maybe my tastes have changed I really don't feel comics are in a good place right now despite the huge amount of fresh interest in the industry.
Of course, someone who has just started collecting comics now will be saying the exact same thing in twenty years. We always think "our" period of comics was the best.

I no longer collect comics for the sake of completing a numbered run, having broken my Spider-man run (ASM #180 - 700) and even they are looking to be sold. I'll probably keep my Fantastic Four just to have something to show for 20 years of collecting.

I ordered a couple from them... they were shipped as soon as they came in stock. They are still not with me :(

No fear though as they normally take a couple of weeks to be delivered. The extra delay is probably the customs guy working out how much to charge you for importing plastic toys :(

Anyone seen the new photos of Perfect Effect Warden? I was adamant that I wasnt getting him but after seeing the new photos my reslove is weakening a bit. I might set aside some cash just in case, hopefully the some colour photos of him in all his alt modes will help me decide.
In other news my Animated Jackpot arrived today, only just got him out of the box and I'm delighted with him. Nice new head sculpt and great little bio. His vehicle mode is a bit dull since its pretty much just black and grey but his bot mode has loads of personality, totally glad I picked him up.
