I'm another of the people refusing to buy online.
My problem is, I'm really cheap when it comes to toys. Even if I see them in stores I look at what you get for your £13 and just cant justify the money to myself.
When online means £13 turns into £15 plus shipping, you're looking at closer to £20 per deluxe, and I don't think I've ever seen a deluxe I'd pay £15 for, let alone £20.

Unfortunately, I cant even use the reasoning that I'd spend the difference and more hunting for new stuff. No stores in the nearest town carry any transformers outside of RPMs by the bucketload, stupidly priced Diego Garcia battlepacks and a pile of 07 Mixmasters in HomeBargains that refuse to vanish.
The only time I really buy toys anymore is if Home Bargains gets something in ridiculously cheap like the 99p Iron Man 2 figures or cheap deluxes.

That said, RTS Lugnut is damn tempting.

When I was in the US though. Goddamn. MP Grimlock, HFTD Starscream, PCC stuff, early Generations, anything that took my eye really. Its a looot easier to impulse buy with their prices :lol

I have pretty much stopped shopping at retail these days, too. I create two lists of figures - one with figures that I really want and have to have, they get pre-ordered as soon as I see them available (eg, Wheeljack, Warpath), and one with figures that I like, but not as much, so I will pick them up if I see them at retail or online cheaply (eg, G2 Prime). Most often, the second list never gets even seen, and figures get deleted, and Hasbro lose a sale. It also keeps me focussed and more limited. Of course, they way things are now, the first list is getting shorter and not added to as much either.

US store exclusives are really difficult to pick up over here. I would guess that the stores really dont like businesses picking up their exclusives and selling them on. I managed to get one of this guy from a friend in the US (top tip, make one friend in the US to send you stuff!). But, I had to go through evil-bay to get the HA Shadow Sideswipe. At this late stage, it is going to be difficult to pick up a Universe Hardhead for less than £40, I am afraid.

On back order at Toyz and Gamez. Boots website is only vapourware. I still have honestly no idea how they made it onto the site, and why anyone thought that they would actually follow through with wave three.

Oh, and thanks for the TFW mods for this thread... and..... hi everyone! :thumb

Good points, I do miss the joy of finding stuff in stores.

I remember when I was younger, and didn't have paypal or a bank account. Begging me ma to buy me stuff off ebay and such! :lol  Ah, those were trying times.

Terradive and Tomahawk are pretty much ebay fodder now, doubt any webstores still have em in stock I'm afraid!

I was lucky enough to get Hardhead for £35 shipped. Excellent figure, and definitely getting the IDW comic head for him. I've been so short on cash lately that I've been tempted to flog him on ebay for as much as I possibly can, but I know if I let him go now it's the last time I'll see him. Thanks very much Hasbro US.

I also have to mention Auto Assembly. I always set aside as much money as possible when I go there each year (this year will be my 4th) and it is amazing what you are able to pick up. It's like having all the UK based online retailers in one place, with stock you can just pick up off the shelves! Not only that, but it's also a great place to do business with other UKers (away from the dealer hall, of course ;) )

I saw Armada Wheejack and Nemesis Prime in Woolworths ONCE. Wish I'd bought one. Just didn't have the money at that time.

Yeah, there's already seeming to be tumbleweed over there, only 1 post since 11 last night! ;)  I was enjoying playing with Tracks this morning, once I worked out how to get his arms tucked back in... (would say I should read the instructions, but they don't often help...)

Same happened to me with BW Depthcharge. Didn't have the cash, but they had ten of him. Went back a week later, GONE.

Didn't get him til last year!

I'd love to go to Auto Assembly, but it always falls at a time when I have no cash. I'm pretty much spent in early summer after uni, but maybe I could see about putting some away this year.....we'll see I guess.

Man, I love picking up tf's at retail. It takes me back to when I was a kid in the 80's, and the intense feeling of anticipation going up the lift in the old huge co-op department store, to the toy section which had its own floor.
Then seeing the shelves all stacked with g1 figures.

Ahhhh to go back in time.

I find it harder to purchase online. Figures are usually more expensive, and then the price of postage makes the figure just seem too expensive and unjustifiable for me. Even though i desperately want wheeljack, £14.99 just seems too much for a deluxe.

The only reason I go shopping with my girlfriend, is to see what toys they've got in asda :D

At the mo, im debating ordering some figures from the 3darths (£13 for a deluxe i can stretch to), but thier wealth of postage options now has me totally baffled :D

I've got Kup on order from them (from back when they had free shipping), and am debating ordering Perceptor when money comes in next week.

But dammit, where the flying fuck be my effing Kup?

I can definatley understand that angle but thats why i always preorder in bulk £15 a figure is'nt so bad when you get free shipping but i really hate it when figures like warpath pop u and its the only figure i want in the wave thats £20 gone :(

Yep, I've got scourge on order from the same time.

But then there was only 1 shipping option (free). I was going through the checkout for perceptor yesterday, and theres now a ton of them.

A couple of them are £0.00, but the descriptions indicate its weight dependent. So it threw me completely.

Yeah, sadly I prefer to pick and choose. Even though over the course of a month, i'll buy them all anyway.

I only collect the classics style figures, which makes it harder to bulk buy when i only want 1 or 2, and alot of the waves feature repaints of figures or stuff like that. Then by the time I get round to having the money per figure, they are sold out. Like generations blurr!

Hurrah - glad to see this thread now in existence! Now watch the Sightings Thread start to dry up...

I have hopes that Argos will get RTS wave 2 deluxes in... would be happy to take advantage of the 2 for £15 offer.

Pretty much, I can see this thread remaining near the top of the Toys section for a long time to come (what with the British tenancies of talking bollocks and
    being right!)

Here, here on Argos btw, I'm hoping their supply of RTS wave 2 will be the cornerstone of my impending Junkion army :)

I don't get this. You say you "desperately" want Wheeljack, but you won't pay the extra £1.99 to get him? That's less than a bus fare or petrol to and from a shop. Plus, it's a figure we will never ever see at retail. Think of all the things you've wasted a couple of quid on in the past, at least this will get you something you really really want, something you will get to keep.
