That's the film I've been meaning to watch. I have a list of films I need to get through, but I couldn't remember one of them. This is it. Glad to hear it's good! I quite enjoy the original, hope this keeps up the standards :p

    Really need to see Dredd.

But yeah, Woolies. I have great memories of seeing all the new RID figures down there back in 2001. I was only really just starting to get into TF's back then, and only really checked Transformers@themoon as they had a great database of G1 figures. I watched a couple of grainy episodes of RID online, and had no idea when/if the toys would be released. I think Prowl was the first one I bought, followed by his brothers and then megatron, and almost all of the spychangers.

Then a couple of years later armada hit, and again, woolies came through with the first figures (I think Demolishor and the first minicon 3 pack were my first). I also bout the two pack video of armada, and kicked myself for spending a tenner on such shite, but back then the toys were fun enough.

I also remember seeing the "sneak preview" Movie figures, protoform Scream and Prime, and buying them promptly. I was also quite excited when I found the 08' Camaro bumblebee, which seems fucking ridiculous now, but he was hard to come by for a while.

I think the last thing I bought form Woolies was animated swoop and sentinel prime the weekend they were shutting down. RIP woolies, you were great for TF's.

Man on man that's a while ago now. Bought all my RiD from the Sutton Coldfield Entertainer (they had it all!), used to hit it up regularly in my search for Beast Wars figures. Armada was the Kingstanding Tesco and Telford Woolworths, we used to drive out to Telford for big shopping trips back then. Energon was Woolworths and Shrewsbury TRU, we'd moved out to the countryside by then so it was close enough for regular trips!

I remember searching the internet for pictures of the new autobot toys during Armada (I was so stoked to find Smokescreen! What a dunce :lol ) and printing them on a few A4 sheets using Word, then giving said pages to my mother for when she went out shopping. Usually came back with something great too! One time, when I was in primary school, she came back with Blurr and a super RiD Prowl. That was awesome.

Back then I only used theTf.net and BWTF for reviews/tfkenkon for galleries. Then seibertron during Energon.

Yeesh movie toys. My bro bought me 08 Camaro BB thinking he'd done a good thing. I never wanted it, but it was nice of him so I could hardly be rude. I still have it now- damn thing has two left fists!
Why oh why did everyone have to go BB mad when the Camaro was scarce. Pretty sure that single-handedly caused all the BB poisoning we've received these last few years :lol

That's a great topic- what Transformers did you buy from Woolworths last before it closed? I'm gonna have to ponder this one.

Spooky - me too! Yeah, the plot isn't exactly deep but it's done pretty well.

Christ, how young are you/old am I! Haha!

But yeah, I'm pretty sure it was just the dreggs of animated and probably a few movie toys, but there was probably a few classics and Cybertron toys around, too!

Yeah, but nothing beats a well stocked bricks and mortar shop. Such a rare thing these days. Man, there were up to four TF lines on sale at one point!

    And The Raid is awesome!

I brought the last two Transformers left in Newcastle Woolworths in it's final days, which were Universe Legends Onslaught and Starscream, with a view to using them for painting practice. Onslaught is still in a resealable bag, fully dismantled, and Starscream is still MOSC!

I still remember looking at RID toys in my local Woolies and thinking "These are awesome, but I can't buy Transformers, I'm 22!"

    I am 22 and three quarters :p

But ten years ago...I couldn't have been at primary school....but I remember being there when I was given them....must've been picking my sister up. If I remember correctly I was in like year 7/8 then (I can't remember which! Damn my age :p )

You should've seen it bud. That many classics in one place was beautiful, if totally unimaginable now. I wish we could go back to that style packaging too, it was really quite nifty.

I remember walking into TRU Shrewsbury in the glory days to find the whole aisle (both sides) and another half aisle stocked with Transformers- reissues, Energon, RiD, everything. They even had Armada Dreadwing and Smokejumper!

    :lol  How naive you were.

I still can't remember what I bought last. hmm

i was actually pleasantly surprised with dread really enjoyed it too , was skeptical at first just like the total recall remake which i told myself i would not watch as the original is one of my fave films of all time but then i did end up watching and thought it was awesome more of a homage to the original film with a few nods to the original thrown in :)

The TFSource Sucks thread is driving me mad, yes the writing is terrible, but no its not impossible to understand. Still no one seems to be following a pretty straight forward chain of events.

I kept going in every day as the mark downs increased, but there really was nothing decent left, long before the prices warranted going crazy. I think the last Transformer I bought will have been a 2007 Movie Starscream Legend. I bought a few legends in the last week but pretty sure a single Starscream I found lurking was the last one.

My best purchase though was of one of the red plastic tubs that the legends were displayed in. I asked about it when they began selling off the fixtures and they had to consult a list of and it wasnt on so I got it for £5. Oddly the blue Hotwheels one was listed as property of Hasbro UK so I wouldn't have been able to get that.

But for closing down sales I cant beat my local toy shop back in Jan 96. It was an old independent shop, probably Hulls biggest toyshop until Toys R Us opened around 1990. It was it was three or four houses and then they had built a giant extension over all the back gardens and it was 2 floors. It was amazing. It was one of hte stores that got a Fortress Maximus for a contest prize so I saw it in the front window back in 88 or 89 for that alone I will always love that place. But after TRU opened it started to go downhill, the ground floor turned to an indoor market and the toyshop moved upstairs, thatswhen I got all my Euro Actionmasters. Then it was bought by Toymasters and moved back to both floors and had a face lift which is when I got Overlord, but by the end of 95 it was closing and I began going in every day. Over the last 2 weeks which were the school Christmas holidays I bought 3 of the G2 Laser rods, Cyberjets, G2 Gobots (quite a few of them) and a few older items like Zap and some of the water squirting cars or the colour changing ones. Also grabbed a bunch of cheap Zoids 2 (and people say G2 was bright). I was sad to see the place go, but at a time when I didnt have lots of money for toys and at an age when it was socially unacceptable all those clearance toys really kept my interest and collection going.

They spent a little too much time trying to squeeze in every last famous line and cliche, but it was a lot of fun. Chuck Norris stole the show for me.

Last transformers I probably bought at Woolies were Beast Wars, I remember then having Racks of the original Rattrap at one point at half of RRP and I gobbled them up

Bit of a late reply with the speed this thread moves!
The Jackie head is great I think! Looks better in person than pics and is worth getting. The set comes with the front half, an Autobot logo and a grenade. Which is bound to have the handle break easily.
If you are looking for one I have made some enquiries with a friend to see if he has any spare.

I got the Shapeways Wheeljack set with guns etc too and they are cool. Yet to paint them, but the Dr Wu set looks better. 8)

Expendables 2 was great - that was the film I wanted Expendables 1 to be.

I can also say good things about the Dr Wu Wheeljack head, very nice. Just go careful with the little grenade canister as that breaks very easily.

Also, I have two sets of Tubes and Manatee in hand if anyone on here wants them. £50 for the set of 2 (limited to 500 worldwide). I don't want to muck about sending them back abroad. PM me if interested.

Yeah.... How did that work out for you? :D

You guys are making me feel both old and noob at the same time. I am older than most people here at 37, but I didnt get back into collecting until after the 'great fall of Wollies', so the last one I bought would probably also be a G1.
