Nellie - fair points on not silverbolt dude. For me its just, they were so close to creating the definitive Silverbolt. But now its never going to be quite right, it may be great - its just different. Which is fair enough.


Picked up MP Sideswipe from the depot today and he is just awesome. The panels dont quite line up as well as Red Alert's do, and there's a tiny paint blob on the top left of the roof but its barely noticeable. Fortunately. Aside from that, he looks fantastic.

The shade of red is superb, and even though hes almost identical to Red Alert - he feels so much different. The colours really bring out a different character, and Sideswipe was one of my favourite tf's in the 80's.

I really hope and pray Takara stick to this style, and scale now as these will be the definitive G1 style figures.

The countach is a beutiful looking car anyway, but Takara have done a stunning job capturing it and not making concessions anywhere.

 

Which do you prefer?

 

Wayheeey, passed my first term at uni! Only thing I was worried about was an essay I had to write on an art movement. Couldn't do it sober so got absolutely bladdered the night before it was due in and passed with 50%. Made up  
Best part is in the feedback section they say I kind of trailer off toward the end and don't make any points, obviously this is where I got plastard and gave up.

Think I'm gonna treat myself to a 3DS!

I'm sure, within TF confines, we could have a white Blackbird. Dinosaurs aren't grey-gold-red and made of metal. Some of those G2 colours have never actually been used on the vehicles represented.

tikgnat - with you on the working out more. Really let things slip after the last half-marathon. Tried to prove how strong I still thought I was on Sunday night by picking up my wife. Threw my back out and had to spend yesterday in bed, fuzzy with Ibuprofen and ice packs.

Plus, running around costs nothing more than the initial outlay for some decent trainers.

Still, there's very little this year I have an intention to buy. FoC Sideswipe and maybe a seeker repaint.

If neither of those make it to retail, I'll have to turn to Beast Hunters for my fix. Will definitely wait until I see the new Smokescreen and Bulkhead in hand. Fingers crossed for a decent Black Arachnia. And a Tailgate repaint. And a Flamewar repaint.

While I'm at it, Hasbro, I'll buy your versions of MP-styled Stunticons and Aerialbots.

 

Thats a tough one.

I love them both, and its hard to choose but I think I'm leaning slightly toward Red Alert.

But they are both amazing!

 

And the chances of them making it to our fair shores when they drag their heels over MP Prime is probably slightly south of 0.0001%.

 

 

It'd be daft for black to be the overriding colour on TFC's Silverbolt when the character it is paying homage to is predominantly white and red. No sense, no sense at all if they take that route.
The rage would be something to behold though.

Theyve both reignited my interest in the hobby. Before christmas, it was really starting to dwindle- but these guys have blown me away.

 

I think the worst part of the silverbolt being a blackbird thing is that there is a perfectly good bomber, I'm going to say its a X150 but I am probably wrong as i was never that good with names, it has the same basic shape as a concord, came in white and has a big box/bomb bay on its under side that could have hidden a world of kible.

All that said i see the arialbots as smaller TFs (alt modes be damned) so I am hoping MT comes out with some in the near future.

 

No doubt you mean the XB70, which is what U2.0 Silverbolt turns into. Yeah, that would've been a better choice.

 

Would now be a good time to say that I picked up five 1/72 model aircraft kits, including the XB70 for use as Silverbolt in a (way, way in the future) scratch build? The thing is huge compared to the other planes, but he really looks the part as the team leader.

 

Quite possible, I don't know much about plains, just that that one was mentioned a few times when TFC first started the arialbots. Looking at the XB70 it really does seem a very logical choice for silverbolt.

 

You're gonna have to show me what you're up to when you get to this. I love a good classics custom, especially when it involves the Aerialbots.

FWIW I have the first two Uranos jets and they're pretty great in my opinion. The fist isn't built in like the constructicons but if you can live with that its a better toy for it. The foot doubles as a great stand for the other one. As the colours have been pretty accurate thus far i'm hopeful they'll go with white but i 'm in anyway. TFC have been the most consistent 3rd party in my view.

 

Ah, thats kind of because I dont.... yet. I did say that this was a far, far future plan. I am excellent at planning projects, though!  

Its always been something that I have been determined to do, coming from a wargaming background I have all the tools and paints and experience to hand already anyway. I have an Alternator in mid-reshell, a couple of Deluxes disassembled ready for a new deco and a stack of model kits to get cracking with. I have had a couple of false starts which have taught me a lot, and which I will take with me to my grave!  

This is something that I hope will replace my shopping for regular TFs in 2013. It should be cheaper - not per figure, but per hour of involvement - and I will actually get mostly what I want out of it.

I have my Aerialbots all planned out, with 1/72 scale models, and a list of lengths to work out which will form legs and which will be arms - making them Scramble City style is incredibly difficult when working with scaled alt modes, unless you want Superion to look like he has a limp.

But, as a big project, I am building up to it slowly. Arms Micron right now, then an Alternator head swap and repaint or two, then an Alternator reshell...

 

I was just looking for a Henkei Silverbolt on eBay. I have to resist tho......
