I agree with you on the movies in the fact we had 5 movies in 7 years and lack of continuity sort of made them all stand alones I definitely think that was too much at once and limited appeal.

I kind of think the IDW collapse was due to foreseeing comics as an industry becoming digital only and they wanted to cut costs in advance in order to be ready but thats just my personal theory.

As far as 3p goes Im with you to an extent, I definitely think hasbro has eroded the 3p market share now especially with classics and is sort of edging into mp in that they are doing mini mp style especially with studio series. Not sure I agree hasbro hasnt showed love to their product but I feel they haven't been in a position to do so before and have had to focus on selling to kids as well. I kind of think now we're seeing a moment like with classics and generations before where you have enough fans who want the product through a combination of lifetime fans and movie fans now willing to buy in.

What stood out for me was in alt mode the section between the door and rear wheel arch seems a different white. Couldn’t quite see on your photo. Does the section I’m referring to appear the same on your Exhaust figure?

Printed media has experienced a rejuvenation, comics included. They needed to add more toys and get on that shared universe bandgwagon, diluted and ultimately ruined what was by many accounts a critically acclaimed continuity. Hasbro is eroding the 3P share now because they've started making better products that show more respect to their fanbase. IMO

to be fair, i was watching a Wheeljack review today and that same panel stood out to me as being a little miscoloured on Wheeljack too

 

Yeah, but that's trying to colour match a light colour over black plastic for you, no mean feat and forgivable in both cases IMO. (If Exhaust gets discounted, I know I'll likely cave - unless they put out a Selects Slicer beforehand!  )

I think that part they cannot match the overall colour any better. I looked at WJ and that same section is similar but I think the off white colour with WJ it is not so obvious for that section.

Yes IrnBro I looked at WJ to see if similar issue and it does appear to be but I think the overall off white colour of WJ hides it better for that section.

I think Seeaich is right that the colour of the plastic used makes it harder to colour match that section. I still like the figure and it’s all good.

I’m now messing about with Greasepit.

I know we've always had just Bots and Cons until someone finally got brave and did "Pirates" for whatever that was, but I like the idea of Badgeless or unaligned Mercs that do stuff for hire. It makes sense in this day and age to have options beyond two.

 

Reviving the Star Seekers space pirate faction and rolling 'em into WFC would work for me too, Thundertron w/out the naff Weaponizer would be neat if we're getting beasts - I do hope Beast mode engineering means we also get a number of inorganic beast remould/re-uses. C'mooon, Has/Tak, break out those retoolings of the TR Monsterbot bod for Fangry, Squeezeplay and Horri-Bull (alright, his might be Skullcruncher or Weirdwolf) we all know you have the CAD models of, you cowards!

 

I bought some new giant bits of card! Backgrounds can now come in happy bright colours. These three fellas seem to appreciate it.
