I reckon that it's entirely possible to shave some plastic off to increase the inward tilt but am obviously nervous - would love some clarification on the issue.
I still need help with things that are missing from this: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/tutorials-how-tos/851484-mp-09-rodimus-convoy-fixes.html
TT's MP-09 can definitely tilt his feet in for a wide stance. I've no idea what's going on with your examples, but he's meant to be able to do stuff like this.
Hmmm, well mine definitely cannot do that. The pin joint that attached the foot to the leg (the joint that folds backwards and forwards to increase leg height or as part of the transformation) is rounded on the outside (meaning the foot can tilt outwards) but is squared on the indie (preventing inwards tilt). It could definitely be shaved off, however.
Yeah mine can't do that either, and pictures like that are why I was pretty sure there was a problem. Anyhow, thanks for the info on the joint - at least it gives me something to go on.
So from what I'm seeing, both versions of MP9 are flawed, and I see that most actually prefer the issues with V1 because they're easier to fix. I had a V2 and had the spring problem with the ankles and the backpack tabbing in loosely, and ultimately the worst problem, the hinge for the cab/cockpit breaking off. So those who have V1 (I have a V1 coming to me so that's why I'm asking), how has your MP9 held up?
You know knock on wood. I've never had any trouble with my Rodimus. It's the Tru version bought when it first came out. I've transformed if less than half a dozen times. Last night my trailer arrived from tfdirect. Only flaw I see is one of the pointy bits above where Rodimus slides in is broke off and missing. It's barely noticeable. After consulting a YouTube video to refresh my memory on how the legs transform I got it into car mode and then combined it with the trailer with no problems. Just took it back to robot mode and everything's still good. I'm just glad to see these trailers available for a reasonable price. It's just kinda odd factory rejects turning up this late.
I have posted a few times regarding fixes to the loose "backdoor" MP-09. For the ankles, they are basically manufactered incorrectly. You can see that the ankles with tilt outward but not inward. Fix: Disassemble the lower leg by first removing the two screws that hold the shin flap and inner leg guard in place. remove the long screw holding the top of the ankle to loosen the joint. There is a small cover with two screws holding the foot on. One screw is very tiny. Take the cover off and slide the foot off. Remove the three screws holding the foot halves together. Be caerful as the spring is strong. Take the ankle pivot out and you will see one side is rounded while the other is squared off. Shave off the squared parts until the ankle can tilt in both directions. Reassemble everything and do the same process to the other side. Make sure you tighten all screws to the proper tollerance so nothing is loose nor tight. Voila! inner ankle tilt.
May I ask where you bought Roddy from, I bought one of the "fixed factory versions" and mine had this missasembly, others have reported the same with the "fixed" version. This is how I fixed mine,.
Please help, this is what happened to mine http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/trans...wounded-masterpiece-rodimus-post12570701.html Will the eBay repair kits work with a V2?
any of you guys have problem when the yellow wing which is attract to the back came off. there is no strew around that area.
Yes, there is a screw but it's a rivet screw (if that makes sense). I used channel-lock pliers and squeezed it back into place and dip the tip of the rivet in some gorilla glue.
So fiddling around with my Rodimus, that I believe to be version 2. I'm having BP problems where he isn't tabbing securely enough. Also, is there a fix for his calf panel to securely attach without having to put them back in place ever time I adjust his legs while posing?
Maybe one day I will be calm enough to read this thread and fix my Rodimus....or smash the piss out of it, one or the other.... I won't even bring up the Hasbro Hot Rod. When I have sufficient time and calm I will start fixing mine starting with the feet.
I feel for 3.8T above. I just got MP-09B. I got the diecast knees from X2 toys also because of the knee problems. Well, right out of the box, one of the knees is already broken. I open it up to replace it and while trying to get the plastic knee off the peg, i break the peg. ARGH!! so now i can't even put the metal knee on. So i'm afraid my figure is done for good pretty much. unless i figure out a way to get a new peg there somehow, i have no idea. if only the figure didn't have these problems, it's actually a really nice toy with some unique features. but yea, i've heard so much about the rodimus qc issues...this really is one of the worst mp realeases, it has to be the worst. just broken out of the box with a whole host of other major problems from the get go for MOST of the toys. wow.
Nah... surely can be fixed.. can you send a pic of the break? Gorilla/Super Glue or some Epoxy might do the trick to set the peg... just enought to hold it in place so the replacement knee joint can rotate around it. Then you need to probably secure the cover panel again but with some extra support since the screw on the weak peg might need some. I don't want to say super glue the panel on to the other half but I don't know how well you reattached the peg. Super Glue chemically changes the plastic .. almost melts in... Should attach well if it is a clean break. It is a fine figure... just got a Mp-09B recently with my 2nd run Rodimus Convoy. Just realized the problem with the ankle tilts which brought me to this thread. I think the factory put the mechanism on the wrong leg?! Guess I'll shave that block down like everyone else here. Already got a set of diecast knees for mp09 and just ordered a set for mp-09b just expecting the break. Mp-09b is wicked.. like to leave his purple shades down. Yellow shades would of been cool too ..
MP-9B is absolutely beautiful. It's a shame that this figure is riddled with some of the worst QC issues of any Transformers figures ever.
Just looked at a cybertron.ca thread to see how to repair the shoulder... And this is way beyond my extremely limited ability to fix. I have no idea how to push out pins or rivets, plus the spring I found won't even fit in the joint, it's too small compared to the pictures. Bah. Oh well. Maybe someday I'll be able to fix it, but not anytime soon.
