I've posted this in the other feedback thread, but I think it might have been lost in transition, but the MAIN reason the backpack doesn't actually "slip" onto the prong like things behind the figures head is because the tabs that the arms peg onto in alt mode prevent the tail lights from falling as far as they need to, which in my opinion could have been solved if they have made the tabs on folding joints, but it beside the point here. Anyway, is you are feeling it a huge bother, you can file the tops of those tabs (in bot mode) down, as pictured. Also, for those of you who did unfortunately scuff up your wings, you can go to your local hobby lobby or hobby shop and pick up testors acrylic insignia yellow. it's literally a perfect match.. Coincidence I'm sure, but still a perfect match.
I have taken both the feet off mine figure because of the foot spring, and I still cant guarantee that I know what is causing the issue. My advice would be to take the foot off, loosen the spring a little while keeping it as round as possible and unjamming it from the foot (take the spring all off the peg), and put the foot back on but without doing up the screws up as tightly. This should solve the issue, and if it doesnt you will at least be able to get back into the foot easier next time. If that works for you, then great, and I will have another look at mine, but I messed with the boosters and they were unobstructed totally, and I still cant get the backpack to lock into place, or even come very close.
I'm having pack back issue's a well. But the tabs on mine are too large to fit into the white latch. Nothing I can do except file down the white latch.
Anyone have any good advice on how to get the weapons to stay in his hands better? He holds one ok in his right hand but not at all in his left.
Do any of these fix the ground clearance issue? A little offtopic but I can see a 3rd party making guns for him.
The ground clearance issues are caused by misalignment. You may think you've got everything in the right place, but there'll be something that's one ratchet notch off or something, that throws everything else imperceptibly out of whack.
Goddammit, the sping has uncoiled too much but now becauseof the add. Pressure the screw is now too tight fffuuuuuuu
I've put some super glue where you can get a little crack on the leg panel screw to see if it stops it breaking off and so far it's been ok. i did the othe one too just incase that side did the same thing. i would recomend doing this if the crack is too big because the glue will sink through to the metal screw and it won't turn. sorry i cant post pics. The foot spring problem hasn't happened yet but i look at the springs on both feet and i really think it will happen soon, probably when i transform him again. Not sure how i'm going to fix that problem.
This is one I've been specifically checking for on mine, and I haven't seen a problem, yet. Granted, I'm not entirely sure which part of the joint develops this issue, but it's fine for now.
The issue with the leg panel is the side panels on the lower legs, on a plastic bar with a swivel at each end, where the panels become the top of the legs in car mode. At the end of the swivel bar, where it attaches to the leg plate, there is a screw, plugged into the port on the underside of the leg plate. The port is plastic, the screw is metal, the joint is thin and fragile and needs to bend a little for transformation. The issue is that the end of the port on the leg plate is breaking off, meaning that the screw in the swivel bar has nothing to grip onto on the leg plate. I hope that this is semi-understandable.
Just transformed Rodimus into car mode for the 2nd time and just as i said, i get the foot spring problem. the spring came out, but not out of the bottom, it came out where you can see inside the foot if your looking from behind. I took the foot apart and with some pliers, tried to fix it, but i couldn't. But when i put the foot back together, the foot moved quite well, so i was still able to transform him into altmode, but with only 3 wheels touching the ground.
Are there any gundam models or figures with poseable enough hands that are roughly equal to the size of Rod's? I've been thinking about finding a pair and fabricating a new pair for bot mode.
Man, all these threads about MP Rodimus is really not making me want to buy this particular MP. I sure am glad Grimlock didn't have these problems.
Honestly, I would strongly recommend that everyone who gets one of these figures - no matter how perfect or otherwise it is out of the box - unscrew the feet and look at the springs before they do anything else. Firstly, it seems that almost every figure has this issue at some point, and putting pressure on the joint is what uncoils the spring and warps it from the start, so taking a look will mean that you are happier to take the foot apart later. Secondly, when the spring is uncoiled a bit, it puts pressure on the sides of the foot and makes it more difficult to unscrew. So, take it apart first. The MP09 hands are quite long and thin, and it would depend on whether you wanted to be able to rotate them around to use the buzzsaw/welder accessory. Without having one here to compare, I would guess that a 1/48 Macross figure is about right. Except, of course, that the hands need to fold almost totally flat against the wrists for transformation, and any new set of hands probably wont allow you to do this.
I have intentionally not transformed my Rodimus yet, so it follows that I haven't had the spring issue yet. All the same, I've unscrewed both feet attempting to perform a "preemptive strike" on the left foot's spring. However, I'm not sure what the fix is, and don't have (yet) a messed up spring in either foot. Those springs are sure in there good and tight; mercy! What were folks doing to fix this - taking the end piece of the spring and somehow bending that or ?????
Wow, how pathetic for $200 you get a lemon piece instead of a masterpiece. I was really looking forward to this guy now, its a pass!
Take the tight spring off of the diecast post inside the foot, loosen it up so when you place it back it no longer grips the post, then you insert the spring into the ankle first, then reconnect the two halves if the foot. Please keep opinions to the feedback thread, this is purely for people posting fixes and questions on how to fix etc,. thanks. For Example:
