I know some retailers keeps street date, but I'm guessing since easter is late this year (april) that many stores will break the street dates and sell the movies toys early....

    What do you think?

I understand that, but stores do break them, for financial gains for quarter ends in business..

Since the release date close to a month after Easter, stores will probably not even HAVE the figures to put out until probably around may 1-5th then they will keep them in the back until the 16th, unless stores get DOTM toys as early as Walmart got ROTF waves 1-2.

Not many. Only those that have employees that won't read or even care about the street date on the box. Then you can count on those pesky cash registers that can scan lead on the toys and recall them.

There might be date-breakers, but nowhere near that early.

May or april makes no difference to me. Shockwave is the only one I'm interested in. I was leaning towards Megatron & Starscream but, I have at least two movie incarnations of both. Besides Megatrons gun and tarp are the only things that caught my attention not enough to buy though.

Anyway more on topic I ended up getting movie 1 voyager Ironhide a week early from Target. Took a deep breath when going up to the register to purchase it. Would have been terribly embarrassing if it did not ring up.

Ended up happening when getting PCC Grimstone at Walmart. They had to call the toy department. Took a few minutes (felt like an eternity) to get the number. I recall numerous people staring at me. It was utterly dreadful. My patience paid off in the end.

It's a bit early, but I can wait a bit longer. And cash machines probably deny the item upon checkout even if the toys are put out early. *cough* PCC Grimstone *coug*

Yes. Happened the last two two movie releases and I'm sure it will this year. They do have the do not sell by date on the box. Some other stores may slip, but Walmart has that dreaded if it does not ring, it's recalled "policy" on new toys. It if has no price and there's an item on the shelf that looks similar and can be priced, most times they will do the override.

No, but I sure wish that would happen... that the DOTM toys will be released that early.

That is one of the reason's why I hate Wal-Mart, they're lucky I decided to go there and then they would deny my money. Who cares how early it is, isnt walmart around to make money? I haven't had something not ring up in quite awhile around my hunting grounds, but i'm prepared if I hopefully find PCC Grimstone. I've never been turned away to a request at Target and only a few times by bitchy people at Wal-Mart. Hopefully Target gets Grimstone in and ends up Breaking the DOTM Street date.

K-Mart is pretty bad about breaking street dates, then recalling the toys. When ROTf came out, my local K-Mart had an entire aisle of TFs, all ROTF, yet they wouldn't sell me any. I understand about the need to have stock on the shelves, I've done retail management, but, if all you have is stock you can't sell yet, don't put it on the shelves unless you're willing to override teh street date for a sale. In the long run, you just piss off customers and decrease the chances that they will come back again.

I hope so, since my birthday's on Easter this year. Either way though, I get TF's: DOTM from Wally World or money for Not-Constructicons. WIN WIN! :)

No way they'll leak that early at actual retail. The vast majority of stores with ROTF stuck to a May 29th release date, I imagine it'll be pretty much the same again this year, just a different date.
