I wonder if the "nothing wrong with this" crowd would feel the same way if it was a major retailer? Say, for instance, that TRU released about half their allotted stock of Roddy MPs then waited a month to see where secondary prices were and then put the rest of their stock up at the new "market" price? Can you imagine if this was the business model for all collectibles?

It's a dick move. It deserves scorn.

I was amazed, then :lolol  at their "smart move", all within a few seconds of time.

Wow, what a roller coaster ride we've here! :rip

I hope I don't see the same situation taking place on RK...

Well, how many sets are there really then?

I mean, I would be pissed if they advertised one of 300 made. They sell 300, and bam, there is another 20. So now I have one of 320.

So there is another dick move there.

I personally emailed asking if they had any left overs to please let me know so that I could buy one... I even signed up for their stupid personal assistant and I still haven't gotten the email alerting me it was in stock. Now 20 show up but for more than triple the original price.

The initial run was 600 split between tfsource and robotkingdom, If RK suddenly puts up some then we know FP shipped more.

How do we even know they withheld stock? I understand your argument, but isn't it a huge assumption?

In any business you always make more then the run amount to cover problems and replacement. Where the 20 comes from is all conjecture anyways.

EDIT: If you run a business where you actually number them then if someone ended up with a broken one all the company can do is refund the money and the buyer is SOL.

YES THEY SHOULD SELL IT FOR MSRP! They're supposed to be a retailer not a scalper! When a videogame console comes out and its sold out everywhere fetching a pretty penny on eBay, do you see Best Buy or Walmart jacking up prices because of the market value when a few more systems trickle in?? NO! Did Toys R US jack up the price of Zhu Zhu pets last holiday season?? NO! They're the only place that carried it, I made considerable effort to contact them and ask them if they had any cancellations or declined cards to let me know so I could buy one. They didnt let me know shit and jacked up the price over 3 times.

Yeah, but your not supposed to sell the extras. It's for replacements like you said.

You just lessended the value and collectibility by releasing an extra 20.

Plus, why would anyone actually defend this move? If this was a year or 2 from now, I could say, well they bought these from some people so it makes sense. Here, it is just straight shadyness. Like I said, FP should not give them exclusives any longer.

they are in a business to make money.

ppl may have not paid or cancelled orders. tfsource bought them and can do whatever they want with them.

granted i understand some ppl are still pissed they missed out, which is no ones fault but your own, but ppl need to stop making excuses and getting mad about it everytime.

and you know damn well if anyone here had extra sets still, that you would sell them at the going rate and not msrp.

    these will sell no problem.

thats the gamble of life and collecting. ppl just need to let this shit go.

oh and tfsource also said that if any where cancelled and let ppl knew, they clearly stated they would be sold at market price.

Honestly, the fair market value for the price would be considered the equilibrium at which supply meets demand.

However, this could be interpreted as artificially inflating prices by holding back supply. Now I don't know what the original allocation of pieces TFSource purchased, so 20 units could be minimal. Regardless, inflating the prices 6-fold in roughly a month's time in this manner is rather disconcerting from a consumer's stand point.

This isn't a product they purchased on the secondary market then resold to achieve a profit, this is a product wherein TFSource is the end of the supply chain of a product made specifically for this entity. The issue lies in TFSource positioning themselves as a reseller in the secondary market, which they are with some products - as when they purchase items at Botcon for resell - but not with this particular item.

    I didn't fail Economics.

they did the same with the snowman kit, sold out, then two weeks later they were up for 150, triple the price. this is one of the reasons i try not to buy anything from them at all

By the way, I don't want to hear shit when a KO of this comes out. I wish it was out today, so no one would buy this shit from them today. Let them get stuck with the 20 units cause a KO costs $60.

It may be one thing for an individual consumer to scalp items, totally different for a business to do so with an item of this nature.

FWIW, I have no interest in owning this product so i don't have a dog in the fight, but TFSource is scalping their own product; no sense in denying that.

Wow TFSource should have their business license revoked. They are the only one are selling these in US and you decided to sell at market price. They already making a profit for selling it at 90. But now they are just greed and being unfair to the collectors.

I'm pretty sure the recent Botcon 2006 & 2008 warehouse finds were extras. Though that is 2-4 years later.

As far as defending them. I'm okay with people calling the price-jacking a dick move but we don't know where these 20 extras came from so we should temper accusing them of withholding stock or whatever.
