I'm going to call mine "Shady Scyther" from now on.

You know, in other retail businesses that deal with product manufacturers directly, if the retailer makes the products in question a certain percentage above the MSRP, then the product manufacturer will no longer provide product to them.

I firmly believe that TFSource should no longer get exclusives from FansProject. A company "by and for" fans should not put up with this.

I only have bad stories related to my personal dealings with TFSource. I won't go into them because that's kind of unfair in that any of it could be made up with no way for them to respond. However, I will say that those experiences have made me shop at other online retailers exclusively since 2008.

The only thing stopping me would be the wondering if i could get more for it later.

    Fixed.

Fan Projects need to shove another production run of Shadow Shyther to Robot Kingdom (or anyone else who agrees not to hike the price) or they need to do a "European edition"

I'm still not to happy with how handled the Snowman Kit either - it was an upgrade for a mass-produced item (Energon Superion Maximus) so they should have had more of them and it never should have been exclusive to one store.

That said at least their website actually crashes a little less often these days.

I don't think the complaints in regards to this have anything to do with entitlement.

Transformers fans being entitled little pricks on message boards (not so much in person...) is an easy call to make, but in this instance isn't really even appropriate.

Had a chance to pick it up at 90 when the pre orders were first revealed but didn't pull the trigger.

Not this time, finally got one. 300 bucks, what are you going to do :)

LOL at all the people saying they won't deal with TFSource anymore. Get over yourselves, TF Source is a great store and a great place to buy TF, because you weren't able to buy one at original price doesn't mean you get to complain.

Would you really sell it for the regular price, when all of you here will just shill it on eBay? No he's smart and wants to make that extra cash.

When they relisted it... i believe it was for 359. They lowered it after the backlash they received on their facebook. 359 was above market rate. They said "we have this amount left and we are going to sell them at market rate." At least the change to 299 was at or just below the going rate.

The comments they made about "going other channels" were really bad statements to make. It was handled pretty bad.

all this pissing and moaning. clean diapers and warm bottles of milk are on the way.

tfsource will continue to get exclusives from FP i know they will, and again, if limited, people wont pull the trigger or him and haw over it, then it it will sell out and ppl will get pissed again.

and if tfsource ends up being the only outlet for that, those complaining now whether they want to hide behind their tough man computer screen attitude or not, will buy it regardless.

That Facebook post about it was pretty bad, honestly. Any attempt they make to explain it now will have to stand up to the fact that they specifically said that some were from cancelled preorders and some were actually "put back for a rainy day." I mean, that pretty much specifies scalping...they didn't leave a lot of wiggle room with that post, so I guess that's why it got deleted afterward. They even say that there's MORE stuff they've been holding back, waiting for that "rainy day." Any guesses as to what kind of stuff that refers to?

I think people have all the right in the world to be pissed off about it, but the only option people have is to vote with their dollars. Don't like it? Don't buy from TFSource. Without the community's support, they'll go under. They're a small, collector-oriented business, so without the collecting community, they don't have much.

Honestly, "tough man computer screen attitude" should have little to do with it. If people don't like it, they should take their money elsewhere. They've got every right to do so. End of story.

God forbid people actually have an opinion on the matter.

Like I said before, people haven't been crying, they've been pretty matter of a fact on the whole issue. Posts like yours are exaggerating the situation. Stop trying to cop an attitude of superiority on the matter.

TFsource is welcome to price their merchandise as they like so long as it's in agreement with the manufacturer or distributor's permitted price range (if that agreement even exists). They're free to make a dick move in regards to product and everyone else is free to point that out.

Agreed, I would of sold them on ebay almost immediately. 300 bucks? It's hard to hold onto stuff that just randomly skyrockets into stupid absurd price territory.... That money can pay for a lot of things... like Valentine's day

BUT.... if I was tfsource and held onto 20 sets, I would of probably sold them on ebay with another username. Seems kinda dumb to do what they did! You know the fan's are going to get upset! Who didn't foresee this happening?

but like all things, everyone will forgive tfsource next week lol. Watch, if they get MP Rodimus Prime first, everyone is going to cancel with BBTS and buy it from them:lol

Why should I do the legwork to defend your position?

FP does not have a license to make transformer products right? Or are they a special 3rd party company?

I understand the differences between the structures of large retailers and small ones, but I simply do not believe that the structural differences prevent large retailers from scalping their own products. I believe it is market pressure that keeps them from acting shady.

I did not suggest that legal threats are what keep retailers in line, that is jeremy you want to point that last one at.

I can't speak for anyone but me, I'll vote with my dollar. If they had any common sense they would of either put these up at cost and let the excited fans get the exclusive from there website. Or they could of gave them as gifts to people who spent over 300 bucks (allowed them a chance to buy them at original price) or raffled off a chance to buy them a original price when the facebook page gets a certain amount of fans.. It would of drawn more people to the website and increased there sales. They also should have put a limit on how many people can buy at first and not after they marked them up lol. Like there doing people a favor.

There is too much scalping bullshit to deal with when people who buy tons of these exclusives and sell them at a huge markup to people who missed the opportunity, but now we have to worry about the stores who get the exclusive doing the same.

When TFCC has extra sets after botcon do they mark them up? I dont think so.

Wow I am noticing a lot of people on these boards make claims they refuse to back up. No one gives enough of a crap about another person's position to research it, so cites or STFU.

That's what Sideshow Collectables does, and it's a good business practice IMO.

BTW, I have no problem with TFSource, BBTS, or any other online retailer selling items for a markup price, especially since they also deal in vintage items (G1, etc), it all depends on market value and as a company, the idea is to make money and stay in business. Typically though, it's due to cancelled orders, etc. and you don't expect to see the huge markup less than a month after they were released. The fact that they intentionally held back 20 units of something that they advertised as an "exclusive" is what bothers me. That could lead to dissatisfied customers taking their money elsewhere, which would (in the long term) potentially cause them to lose more revenue then what they'd make on the front end with the marked-up product. Again, this has been discussed before in the thread, so...

Also, this is a bit off topic, but you know how TFSource and BBTS avoided selling the iGear Faith Leaders (aka mini-MP Prime) because it was a blatant knock off of the Hasbro/Takara mold and they didn't want to rock the boat? Well, I just checked the TFSource ebay page, and even though they don't want to advertise it on their website, they obviously have no problem with selling them on Ebay.

i agree. now that more things have come to light, to take these supposed cancelled pre orders or secret stash is shitty.

that means like others said they did not make the full 300 available.

again they can sell them for whatever they want regardless.

now if they said something like we are getting 300 but only 280 will be sold because they want to hold on to some to make more money would be on thing and have a right as well. or for defective sets.

but i guess the statement they made on facebook was the problem which is now gone on the facebook page and they seem to be sold out now.
