    Hi all

I got my G1 Masterforce Horri-bull from Ebay. And I found out there are 2 issues

    1. Fragile of Internal Ratchet Round Ring
The pink circle ring (hidden inside arm) that serves as ratchet of fist is easily broken. The same also happy to the inner black ratchet ring of Fangry which will make the clickering sound gone when you rotate the legs and the robot legs cannot seem to stand straight.

    2. The 2 Clips on the Back of Bull body is easily Cracked or having Stressmark
The extra piece on the back on the bull head that look like a "neck" has uneven shape. This neck piece will then be located/sandwiched between the 2 clips on the back on the bull body, and a metal pin will go through the holes of them to hold them together. I believe the uneven shape of the neck fails to serve its original purpose right - to create a ratchet effect when the bull head is moved, instead, it is so tight and it always causes stressmark or even crack on the 2 clips on the back.

    Question
    1. How to overcome it? I took out the bullhead and use pen knife to shave the uneven neck and put it back with pin, and end up the bull head is so loose and can swing when I shake the bull.

    2. I think we need a better plastic on it. Do you think I can send it just the Body of bull with 2 clips on it and ask someone here to reproduce with better plastic?

I realise it is the back cover (with 2 extra clips to hold the neck) that is made of fragile plastic and cannot sustain the "pressure" when we rotate the bull head to the back.

I am willing to sending in my Horri-bull back to any master here for repro but my question
    1. Will a better quality plastic of repro will solve this problem?
    2. Will any master be able to make it same color the original (dull blue)?

Let me know how should I start this request and also I would be interested to know how many of you out there is interested in this?

Its not unusual for g1 to have these kinds of design issues. For instance blurrs shield clip is prone to breakage due to thin parts, that sort of thing.

I'd be interested in a fix for this as well. My original Horri-Bull had broken long ago at this same weak point, and I have cracking in my replacement.

I just wonder, if there will be a lot of people interested to have a more sturdy and hard plastic on the horri-bull back body part, where most of the crack/breakage happen at the neck connectors there?

When I got my Horri-bull this past summer, I noticed the head issue as well. If one were attempt to fix it, I'd recommend punching the pin out first, then sanding down the necessary area for the fix, and then reinsert the pin.

KA hit the nail on the head, as there are quite a few G1 figures that sport certain breakage points. Doing one's homework on each G1 figure is highly recommended, as there are several who have provided some good feedback on just what issues to look out for :)

when you said sanding down the area, I think you are referring to the bull head neck.

What I did is that I use the pen knife to cut off the shaped neck part but maybe I overcut it, it makes the neck become loose and swing when you shake the horri-bull.

Any guideline for doing the sanding? what material should I use instead of pen knife/cutter?

Essentially, I was posting a generalized rule of thumb since I didn't have my own Horri-bull handy and only looking at the posted photos, but yeah, I'd say your right there :)

I generally use a rotary tool and/or sand paper to do most of my sanding. Either of those two tools will allow for a conservative approach, as you can always keep taking off excess, but it can be harder to fix it once too much as been taken off.

No wonder so many sellers in ebay when I ask them to send me pictures of horri-bull get transformed, noone dares to do it.

I had a problem with Nightbeat's head and I always thought the plastic the Decepticon Targetmasters are made out is way to prone to snap in half (Blowpipe I'm looking at you).

But aside from it being a little tight at the neck joint I've had no issue with Horribull. but that said i've not Transformed him for years.

I did have the rotation joint snap in half on Overlord's jet which annoyed me a bit as it's not like it's something I'm likely to find a junker off to swap the part.

Some little side comments about Horribull since he's the subject of conversation :

    1) He looks like a Terrordog from the Ghostbusters movie
    2) His gun can be stored in the screw hole on the side in beast mode - it might be a little loose if it is put a little sticky tape inside the hole and that extra 1mm will hold it tightly in a good place pointing over one leg.
    3) I found if you've a care to you can undo the screw in his ankle and put it to one side and then his feet can be displayed split so it looks like he's taking a step - it's not much added articulation but it's better than the almost none he has by default.

I will be receiving my targetmaster Fracas soon. And I still short of Targetmater Slugslinger and its targetmaster. Once I received all of them, I am willing to send them to Darkov for repro for a better plastic one :)

I never know horri-bull can be done in that way. Will try out.

I already sent email to Darkov to ask him if he will create repro for the horri bull back part which is always broken. Let us see how it can be worked out.

I just received my 2nd piece of Horri-bull from a USA seller. It does have minor stressmark as described by the seller.

May I know how do you use Rotary Tool to slowly shave/smoothen the neck part?

Rotary tools typically have speed settings. I find that this is often a comfort and control type of thing based on the tool's settings. Mainly, I wouldn't want to have it wide open as a rotary tool will eat through plastic quickly! Conversely, too slow of a setting will pretty much just make a mess. Slowly :lol

But basically, figure out your target area, choose your bit and setting, and cut away. Take off a little at a time, and continually test the part until it's fitted. :)

I actually did that exact thing. Took a lot of careful work and fit testing, but it moves a lot more smoothly now. Very little tension in the joint. Possibly too little in fact, but this is one of the occasions when too little is a good thing.
