I hate the execution of the pretenders.

 

Hasbro just replied with the same response as TRU. "Thanks but we don't consider unsolicited ideas." No wonder we keep getting such pitiful exclusives. They won't even consider listening to fans. Tomy is my last hope before reaching out to the ko-reissue guys in China.

 

its not that they wont listen to fans, its a legal issue. If they used your idea, you could come after them for compensation.

if you want thundercracker and skywarp pretenders so much, it shouldn't be hard to make them yourself. I just don't think there is a huge demand for pretenders to come back. I mean I like ROTF bludgeon that his body looks like his pretender shell, but i hate traditional pretenders

 

I've considered it, but nothing matches factory quality. I know these would sell very well. I would be more than willing to sign an agreement giving up any claims to the idea if that is the obstacle.

If anyone has the contact info for the people making the high quality TF ko's, I'm ready to pursue that option.

 

I heard back from Tomy USA. They forwarded the idea to Tomy Japan. Then I heard back from Tomy Japan, telling me to contact Hasbro since they have the rights to Transformers in my market. Official channels have been exhausted. Does anyone have info for contacting Zhong Jin, the company responsible for the high quality ko's of recent years? I am guessing they might be interested if I agree to purchase a large number of units. This is something I am willing to finance personally if necessary, depending on cost and minimum quantities.

 

Honestly, I prefer Skywarp the other way, though I may be biased. My reasoning is that black is his primary color with purple only being secondary. Kinda like the black is secondary on Thundercracker and blue is secondary on Starscream.

 

Either way looks good. I'm hoping the matching helmets/arms/guns on Thundercracker and Skywarp might lower costs a bit if I have to finance a run. Hopefully I can appeal to Zhong Jin's desire to make a profit.

I would be interested in seeing the black and purple swapped on the version of Skywarp shown here. Unfortunately, my PS abilities are too limited to do that job properly.

 

It's not great, but it's the best I could do.

See, I'd like Skywarp's robot to be black, and his shell purple as a way of getting that out of their system. FOC Skywarp would have been exactly what they were going for if they hadn't run out of purple at the critical moment. We know that if this happened, they'd give him purple legs too. Make new shells for the Legends, like that guy said.

I'm hoping to do these straight G1, but I would be all in on updated Pretenders if HasTak ever gets around to them.

I'm going for G1 all the way.

 

I have established a couple of contacts with ko makers and am now looking ideas for the coloration of the inner robot. My hope is to get them as close to animation accurate coloring as possible. Anyone with mad photoshop skills want to take a shot at coloring this image into toon accurate versions of Starscream/Thundercracker/Skywarp?
