Actually, since the buyer is somewhat local to me, I've heard from other collectors and dealers that have spoke with him, he wasn't even a collector at the time and seriously thought it a good investment. That's why he had to post prices like $500 MIB (NOT sealed!) Headmasters just to recoup his costs.

Well then it's just me. But I really don't think 50k is need-to-mortgage-my-house-or-children kind of money.

My point being that people need to be spending their money wisely. Someone who has the luxury of visiting internet forums everyday definitely has the ability to have 50k disposable cash.

The hell? How the hell do you figure that? A lot of people (myself included) visit the forums at work, you know.

In today's economy, 50k in your bank as pure savings that are untouched is a lot of money. Not to mention 50k really does not go that far anymore.
You know you're Canadian when you can make love in a canoe...

The truth of it is, it's easier to make money than most people think. All you need is to be motivated enough to get off your comfortable ass and do something different. I've seen too many people whining about their lot in life and not doing anything about it. Trust me, if you have a computer and an internet connection, there are a lot of things you can do. I'm not talking about scamming or making porn sites. I'm not even talking stock market. I'm talking honest good work.

Now, the few of you, why did you feel compelled to ridicule my comment? It is precisely the mentality I'm talking about. There are many self-made millionaires below 30. There's not much difference between them and the rest. Only difference is they dared to try. When most people consider these successes, they say "oh, they're special, I'm just not born with the smarts." So if your response is that, then yes, you'll stay that way, surfing internet forums out of boredom at work.

I didn't meant to ruffle so many feathers, I honestly thought 50k wasn't a lot of money. This isn't a self-help or career forum, so enough is enough. Peace out.

So let me ask you this:

I work as a high school teacher, my finance works for a non-profit, we have a child and family to support, along with bills, rent, day care, etc. We live comfortably, but do not have the type of savings that comes close to 50k... so what would you say to people like us, you now, average, hard working people?

Try as you may, things come up, needs have to be met, that greatly impact savings accounts. I have a fairly good collection of Transformers, but I never let them get in the way of my primary responsibilities... so I cannot afford a 50k collection... and I'm assuming most, if not all on these boards with similar lives cannot as well. We all want to, but not today.

So, would you bill people like me as failures to society? Do we not earn enough? Are we lazy? Please, oh please, help us out.
