I registered to get some help for this problem, lol.

Just got my MP04 Prime and i can;t finish transforming him from robot to truck because his legs don't come up after pressing the gas cans. I am squeezing the gas cans as much as I can before breaking, and still nothing. Help please, I don't want my 250$ to break.

you squeeze the gas cans and, while squeezing them, push up

I know it seems like you're supposed to press 'in' on the barrel of the can, but instead press down on the top of it, like so...

This typically solves the problem you have. It seems not all of the mechnisms line up right to trigger like the instructions show.

um your suppose to push on the sides....you push the sides in and while having that pushed in you push the legs up.....you can do both i guess, but the way you say don't seems easier (or that is what i do)

this happens to me the first time i transformed my MP04, i was so scared that i might break it with too much force. it becomes easier after you've done it a couple of times.

Pushing the gas cans then I am pushing the legs up... still nothing. They don't even budge. There's no audible clicking or any movement, so is maybe the tabs inside misaligned? Should i try to open the legs?

If memory serves you have to push on the edge of the top of the can, so it sort of moves away from the leg... if that makes sense...

I got one of the legs to move up, but still no movement on the other. the one that isnt moving seems to be scratching the side of the diecast.

    Yup.

It's interesting that MP-01, 20th Anniversery Prime, and MP-02 never seemed to have this issue. But since MP-04, That re-release with the blue gun, and onward, every now and again someone gets one with a jammed up leg.

The top-of-the-can trick usually works, but failing that, you may just have to disassemble it and check the parts out. (and it sucks to do that...)

On mine, the can is more like a tilting catch than a button. As you have the toy stood up, press in at the bottom of the can, so that the can swivels about its centre.

Sometimes when I move the leg on mine down then up it works, just kind of wiggle it some is the best way for me to put it into words. I usually end up trying a few methods every time I transform him.

mine does it almost every time on the one leg, all i do is pull down a little before pushing up and it works, sometimes a little twist helps too

Look at the gas cans. Do you see how there's a pin in the middle of it? That is the PIVOT POINT. If you remember that, and push JUST the BOTTOM part of the can IN, so that THE TOP PART MOVES OUT, the leg will unlock.

That'll do it. Mine never had that problem, though.

i'm, not stupid, i know how the locking mechanism works without taking it apart. there simply wasn't any wiggle room when the can was pressed, so i thought there was maybe something wrong in the guts of it. now when i want to transform i insert a needle under the top part of the can and press on the bottom of the can so that the tab can lift out. problem solved, ty guys.
