Binaltech and Alternators the previous line of realistic and licensed cars with high detail. BT was the Japanese version with die-cast; Alt was the USA version with pure plastic.
Alternity, so far, seems to be a limited line with just the two molds, some die-cast but not wholly metal. Smaller scale than Binaltech; these are about deluxe sized. Binaltechs were noticeably larger. FOR SALE Exosquad: Exofighter and Neofighter SuperHuman Samurai: Servo and Zenon Beast Wars: Magnaboss

But as I said earlier I did not start collecting until after the first movie line as I am sure some newer fans have as well since the movie made it popular to collect and more toy lines were then produced.
Last time I saw an alternator was during the release of the first film. But again thanks for clearing that up! I wish they would release more of that line. |

Not sure how well the BT line did in Japan, but Alternators didn't move off the shelves enough to justify the line in America.
The classics/Universe 2.0 line offers most of the engineering at about half the price. I suspect that there's licensing issues too, now that Hasbro is tied in with GM thanks to the movie.
The Human Alliance sets for the movie are pretty much Alternators in size and detail/complexity, so it's the "new" Altenators. Their existence is justified by the money that Hasbro's thrown into the movie.
With no TV series or movie budget backing it, BT/Alt is dead. Too bad, because I liked the series. I still have BTs for sale if you want. FOR SALE Exosquad: Exofighter and Neofighter SuperHuman Samurai: Servo and Zenon Beast Wars: Magnaboss

I feel they were worth the price and I have not even opened them up yet. The packaging is all plastic outer shell. You should pick up the red one while you can as they are getting harder to find. |

I usually never by anything that I can't purchase at retail, it get really expensive older series and such. That is why I welcome all the cybertron repaints I missed out on, since they are usually updates to older characters and better paint schemes then the original molds IMO.
It looks like Human Alliance will take over for Alternators for now, hopefully they will sell well and Hasbro will re-release the original Alternators and some new ones! |
