So, I got my first TM Megatron (a TF I had wanted since I was like 6 but never got) two years ago. I transformed him maybe once or twice, and then his right arm panel snapped off... I fixed it with some super glue, and it was pretty much fine. Long story short, I don't have that one anymore.
So about a month ago, I bought one again. In mint condition, came with everything. And again, the exact same thing happened. So, whenever I transformed him I was extremely careful, especially with his arm panels. For both of them, I also noticed you had to try I little hard to twist his hips around. Starting about a week ago, whenever I turned his hips to transform him, I heard a kinda cracking sound, no matter how I turned it or with whatever force. So, a few minutes ago, I was transforming him to Beast mode to put him away, and his entire leg thing snapped off; he snapped in half...

My question: Is TM Megs known to be this way, has everyone had the same problems? Is he just built really really weak, or is it just me? What's up, cause it's really annoying that one of my favorites breaks so easily... now I gotta go spend more $ on a third one :(

Oh, and of course, if this is in the wrong place, please move :)

apparently it is a very common problem with that mold to juct completely brake down eventually. but a few months ago i was given the pink chrome version of that mold by a friend which hed kept in storage above his garage with other TFs for a good 10 years. took it out and have played with it many times since and mines never had a breakage issue. i was pretty surprised nothing broke actually.

Transmetal Megatron has what's known as "Gold plastic syndrome," where the plastic gets brittle in a very short amount of time and can snap with even a slight amount of pressure. However, the Japanese version doesn't have this problem, and neither does the Armada repaint.

It's so strange, I've had TM Beast Wars Megatron for years, and he hasn't deteriorated at all...

I support TM Megatron for a re-release under the Universe 3.0 line.

I've had two TM Megatrons. One had an internal part of the hip break while I was playing a bit rough with it. Fortunately, the second one, purchased at retail immediately afterwards, has held up without problems for well over a decade. Granted, I don't play with my toys or manipulate them that much any more, but I haven't had any problems with it yet.

I bought one TM Megs on ebay a year or so ago and it showed up with bad GPS - I broke the second I moved the arm panels.

I bought the Japanese version shortly after and it is much more durable.

I have the original from when BW was out, and a few months back I was changing him to robot and the right arm panel snapped a little(by where the pin holds in onto the torso) and I bought a junker with that side intact and trying to remove the pin it snapped off completely. So my TM Meg is stuck in dino mode for fear of further breakage.

Might have to get the Japanese one though if all the durability stuff is correct.

I have the japanese version, and surprise, its quality is far better then Hasbro's. The only problem is that the Takara version looks more pink/brown while the Hasbro versions colors are DEAD ON with the shows.

I broke 2, not going to waste more money rebuying this mold sadly. I do like it though. Stupid GPS. :grumble:

I was afraid of this happening to mine but I fiddle around with this toy a lot. Mine has multiple languages on the box but the toy looks the same. Mine seems to hold up just fine so far.

The problem isn't the mold, it's that specific release. The Japanese version is just fine, and so is the Armada recolor (which is probably a lot cheaper than the jap one, provided you don't care about the colors)

My TM Megs is still intact (in beast mode) but I'm worried about Transforming him. I thought about getting the JP release but hmm. Anyone know offhand if the golden disk fan accessory kit (available at Iacon One and later that same year's BotCon, produced by unicron.com) is compatible with Armada Predacon? Since it's just a remold to add mini-con pegs, I would think it should still work.

As others have said the Japanese metals Megatron holds up very well. I have no problems with mine at all.

    It's fragile.

I broke my first one and left him in beast mode.

My 2nd one stays in bot mode.

Don't think I'll ever transform either again. :)

I had one that I purchased when it came out that never deteriorated on me, despite being played around with a lot; not even a stress mark. Problem is, when I left my ex I also left several of my toys behind. After not talking for over a year, I asked her if anything had survived; she didn't think I'd ever be back for them and had eventually given most of them away. Oh well.
