So, recently (as in the last 5 months or so), I've been getting back into collecting G1 again. Mind you, I've already got much of the line, so it's not like I've been completely out of the loop and just starting from ziltch. Essentially, I placed my G1 collecting on hiatus about 5 years ago because I really got into the Alt/BT line. Long story short, I've been recently trying to start filling in the gaps again. I only collect loose/decent condition/complete as well.
Among the few I want to track down are:
"Bumper"
Targetmaster Scourge
Apeface
Misfire
. . . and it starts to trickle into things like the Micromaster bases and such from there. Some TFs I have but simply need parts for, too
Of course, I've been scouting ebay again, only to be appalled on some occasions and sniped on others. I go to a few, reliable sites like Transformerland.com and FortMax.com Junkion Exchange I frequent as well, even with me posting some of the figures I still think are cool, but simply have no place for.
I've not been in a position to go to the "big" conventions and won't be for some time. One dealer locally (within 45 mins or so) deals vintage toys quite a bit, and 2 other places occasionally deal the same things; all of these generally get the more common, sought after TFs that I already have.
Anyways, it's not like I've just come across a huge treasure chest or a money tree either, but I suppose this is where I am. Hopefully, it won't be [too] long before my G1 collection is complete!

I was pretty blessed to have a decently sized G1 collection as a kid. I took care of it really well too. I still have instructions, tech specs, robot points, all of the accessories, etc. The only thing I was forced to do anything were all of the "duplicate" catalogs.
When I first got back into collecting in 2000, I was going back and getting the figures I didn't have. I used the lull of Beast Wars/Beast Machines to do this as I wasn't getting much during that time. |

I have a hard time to find the eadmasters MIB with their inner bubbles and backingcard in good condition and once they are upp on ebay they go for some money, last time I checked a MIB Highbrow crosed the 250 line. This is of course US version boxes I mean in very good condition.

With the boxes, I simply don't have the proper storage/display for them I'm thrilled just to have the figures complete and in good shape!
After reading the above, is there anywhere else you (or others) are looking for G1z? |

Some MIB pieces I got here like the Dev giftset, Superion, bonewhite Jetfire. But mostly from ebay. Collecting loose, I would say Transformerland is great. He is usually accurate in his description when it comes to conditions of the toys.
Best deal I ever got was a guy from australia who sold 6 TM unused in perfect condition that probbaly never got played with. Won all 6 for like 900$

Sounds like your into a lot of the 1987-90 stuff. I almost did'nt collect any g1's from my childhood do to how expensive they can be. But then my family reminded me that they are only going to get rarer in time.
You don't want to be hunting for missfire when the transformers franchise hits its 50th anniversary. My Feedback Check out my Youtube! |
