    Your Favorite Fan Mode Thread

With the inclusion of the Gerwalk/Guardian/Helipod Mode for Whirl I was looking at Sandstorm and got to thinking.. Could I?

Why Yes I could! Sorry for the glare on the top view.

GerSandGuardianStormWalk! You can do the same with Springer, but it's not Nearly as impressive.

Post a few of your favorite fan modes!

Still at it with the Wreckers. Whirl's swords make for awesome adapters.

XD Jazz and Blaster would feel right at home, until Soundwave attacks them.

Now I'm seeing potential for an Animated-style Generations Swindle custom out of him, if one could find a way for the shovel to tuck away in Robot mode.

After messing around, I made a rather piston-poor scorpion and turret modes for the Mini-Con Assault Team. I feel like I am getting stuck with too many holes, not enough pegs for what I try. I wonder how Heavytread feels knowing his partners are constantly bumping cockpits?

Edit: Scene Change: DECEPTICON temporary base

You may have seen these before, but have you seen them on a blue background?

    In no particular order:

    Drill Turret Shockwave
    Gerwalk Airachnid
    F̶o̶l̶d̶e̶d̶ ̶o̶u̶t̶ ̶B̶o̶a̶t̶ COMBAT DECK Thunderblast
    Helicopter Armada Starscream
    Horse M-CAT

Apologies if someone else has done this before. When I did this by accident, it made me question whether or not I've been mistransforming him this whole time:

As you see, he now has the classic "hood chest" like the rest of the early cars.

Everything clips in and is very stable. You just need to peg the back to the chest in a slightly different area.

Maybe he was supposed to be like that and Sideswipe the official way?

Probably not the world's most earth-shattering fanmodes in this post, but I like what I've done.

I really didn't like seeing Star Convoy's head in base mode. The base mode is one of the better ones I've seen, but the head is makes the whole thing WEIRD. Makes it look more like Optimus doing the splits and welcoming people into his body. I didn't like just leaving the head folded down, because it takes away from the computer screen inside.

I mistransformed the arms a bit so that it doesn't look as much like arms, and I covered up the head with a HFTD Breacher.

The styles kind of clash, but I still think it looks pretty cool. That, and I couldn't find a G1-era figure that had that much flexibility and looks like some kind of gun turret. Also, it's stable enough and just the right shape for a Micromaster (or a really small Minicon) to sit in it like a gun turret:

For those wondering, this is how I did it

Changing gears a bit...I found some new ways to configure Crossfire parts. New to me, anyway.

I was frustrated with the missile pods. I like the look of the missile pods on the helicopter, but the pods won't stay up! So looked for an alternate way to use the pods.

The missile pod (the one that connects the helicopter to Bruticus) fits just fine on Swindle. Just loop the hole through the peg in Swindle's gun, and it makes for a fairly convincing Humvee with a missile attachment.

The other missile pod (the one that connects Blastoff to Bruticus) attaches just fine to Bruticus' foot in base mode. Doing this with the other missile pod runs into the same issue as pegging it into the helicopter (gravity pulls it down).

And lastly, I didn't like that Bruticus' hands had no clear place to go on Onslaught's base mode. So I found a place to stick em on the helicopter. I like this configuration so much, I think I'll keep it this way even when Onslaught is in truck mode.

    And...voila! All parts are used!

Fits better than I thought it would. Held on by friction. I'll try the chest on when I have some more free time.

Okay, this needs to be gone over a bit. How exactly does it peg in? Pics would be great to show where.
