I *think* he meant the difference between the us mp starscream, and the tomy anime colored one that's has less weathering... I bought the tomy one and it looks damn near the same, except yes there is slightly less of the grey smokey-ness on the top. I would have preferred none, which is why I went with it. I heard that there was cheaper plastic used on the Japanese one vs. the US, but I've never touched the US version to compare. I didn't hear that until I bought one, but given that they're around the same price, I probably still would've gone with the cleaner looking one. The packaging was exactly the same, plus a sticker, and the instructions were the same from the US release. I don't know of a picture comparing those two, though.

The different plastic was only on the ORIGINAL (i.e the green Screamer) version of MP-03, I own the Japanese MP G1 colored one and it is the exact same plastic as the US one (i.e. Walmart exclusive, at least that's what i figured through a lot of research and asking around in these forums, since like you, I've never touched the US version), other than the japanese one having less weathering, a decepticon logo on top of the nose and having pointer ends to the wings and stabilators they are the same.

Also limgrock, here is a link to a thread i started awhile back on that very same subject, hope this helps. :D

I spent ages trying to work this out as well, and ended up picking up a Walmart version.

    Walmart version:
Starscream (Reissue) - Toy Gallery - Photo #39

    Takara version:

Very little between them. Notice the ink wash on the wings. There are a few other minor differences apparently. The Takara version is a repaint of the other Seekers while the Walmart version has some changes. Walmart has less sharp tail wing tips, and I think that some plastic parts are red plastic in the Walmart version and painted in the Takara version.

Honestly, I spent too much time deciding. It doesnt really matter so much.

They are pretty stable at around £54 (including shipping) on eBay, but you will need to pay import tax on that too, which was almost £20 on my Walmart version (£9 tax, £11 'admin fees' - thanks Parcel Force! :thumbdown ).

No. It only counts for items coming into the UK. If it is already here, there should be no additional charges. It is worth paying an extra £10 for an item in the UK over one from outside.
