G1 toys are very tough and durable. That is why they are awesome. I love newer toylines like Universe for the accurate look and new joints, etc. but G1 toys are ones that will endure almost anything.

 

Seriously, your problem is the cat.....if I were you, I would put the stupid cat inside the microwave and would give it 2 minutes.....she will never do it, I garantee you!

 

Yeah, everything I had as a kid was pretty rugged... except Roadbuster.

 

So in conclusion, cats are evil.

I hear ya on that. Ball joints suck, well, balls. The movie Bumblebee I have is a little over a year old and he can't even come close to standing on his own anymore, while my 25 yr old g1 prime and Megatron can stand with no difficulty what so ever. An example of the quality in the designs over the years. The new designs may look cool, but they have nothing in the way of the quality and forethought that the g1's had.

Well, that's a foregone conclusion...there must be some reason the Egyptians worshipped them right? They were probably afraid the cats would all rise up and kick their Egyptian butts into the Underworld...

Surprisingly, everyone made it through the night unscathed...hopefully she's declared a truce

I had a G1 Kup that survived a house fire. Only thing is his stickers melted off and some of the plastic is discolored.

 

Cats, you see, they know everything. Including the fact that G1 + luck = nothing broken. She started with the Movie Bumblebee, that broke, so she moved onto something which looked more durable. It's entertaining, and you're just there to provide the means of entertainment for her  

But, I reckon luck had more to do with it than "old-school engineering".. i broke a few TFs in my time, and I was never particularly rough with my toys. Prime had one arm snapped off, and no smokestacks (and no back door on the trailer) by the time he got jumblesaled...

Still, at least yours came thru the catfight unscathed.

 

Die-cast. It's a lost art.
