Already being discussed. http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-toy-discussion/225713-botcon-2009-boxset-yes-no.html
This set has nothing to do with the 25th anniversary. It's just this years set that happens to fall on the 25th anniversary year. Two separate things dude, let it go.
there pretty much the same thing, your not gonna get a full count because people are gonna think they already voted. There pretty much the same.
wrong it has everthing to do twith it being the 25th ann. there are representives from all areas of tf from the US to JAPAN to the UK. so yes it does.
Frankly, I hate the question. What would "do justice" to the 25th Anniversary will differ wildly depending on who you talk to.
If you took a relative Noobie and showed him/her the 2005 and 2009 sets and asked which is the 25th year celebration?, and I bet he/she would be lost. Like others have posted, I'll have to see the Botcon comic to see how these TFs are related.
On this point we agree 100%. This is why I think so many are disappointed. They've had years to plan for the 25th. 5 to be exact. In all that time, with so many ideas to choose from, even despite the limits in which molds they had to choose from, this is the best they came up with? Yeah, I'm bashing this set. After years of support, having gone to EVERY US Botcon (and OTFCC) and 1 Japan BC, all of the lessons learned over the years about how to and not to run these shows and this is their way of saying happy anniversary to the fans? I don't know if many of you know or even care, but there is more to this con than just the 25th. ann for TF's. It's also the 15th. Botcon and the 5th. year for FP to run the show. You'd think that with so many things to celebrate that more thought would have been put into this year's set. Instead, we get two '86 characters with poor mold choices, a Micromaster homage that couldn't be done in it's original colors due to a similar toy being released in the main Universe line, a UK homage with another poorly chosen mold, and totally new character that looks like he should be Roadbuster but couldn't be called that because the name was used in another exclusive set last year. They then slap Animated Elite Guard symbols on them and call it good? I can't even begin to imagine how they are going to make all of this work in the comic. (and I use to write comics for a living) Sigh. I guess after the last few years, these guys have set the bar so high that they just couldn't raise it anymore and we had to get a meh set. Too bad it fell on such an important year.
Hiro Prime, totally agree with you 100% This was a total waste of the potential for the 25th anniversary.
