Why don't they make a new Unicron Figure?

I remember when Unicron came out for the Armada line. Great figure, still have it.

But then came Energon, and all they did was re-paint the Armada mold. Nothing spectacular.

But now, it's 2009. And Universe Unicron is exactly the same?

WTF! Why not just make a G1 accurate Unicron? Is it so hard to do? Why not?

I cannot beleive they would keep re-hashing the same figure since 2002.

What is it with Unicron especially? He gets the bum wrap. They made that cruddy tank mode for him, but why they never made a G1 Movie Anniversary figure is completely beyond my understanding.

I'm sure there's plenty of TF fans who would love a G1 accurate Unicron from the classic animated film. Tell me no one would buy that in a heart beat?

Can we hold out for a Masterpeice Unicron? So what's the deal with Unicron?

If you want to talk about Re-hashing, ask Has/Tak why we've been getting the same Optimus for 25 years.

I guess i'd sum that up as "If it's not broke, don't fix it".

But for Unicron, it's different since we've only seen a few toy incarnations, while Prime has had numerous, countless incarnations.

The Armada Unicron to me is close to G1 anyhow. There's really not much of a reason to make a new one....I just wish he was bigger!

I think the second poster meant that they've been giving us re-issues of the G1 figure [Optimus Prime] all these years. Count how many times the mould has been re-issued since 2000.

As for Unicron, you sound a bit ignorant of some things. First of all, such a huge figure would be very expensive to manufacture and would have a retail price of around 55-60 USD. Tons of cheap-ass people complained about Primus being too expensive at launch and wanted him on clearance since day 1, what makes you think a G1 Unicron, with no media to support sales for children, would stand a chance?

There's far more interesting toy designs coming up the following months, IMO.

I think the only way we'll see another Unicron toy is if there was a series to support it. Like if he was a central part of the story. Which I know a lot of people are not in favour of due to how heavily he was used in the Armada and Energon series.

Unicron is 90% perfect as he is. I really don't think we will ever see supreme sized Uincron or Primus done "differently." I feel the planets are done. No reason to do them again.

    Agreed.

This is about the fifth Unicron thread in the last two days. We must have the big guy on the brain.

Personally I'm thinking TRU shipped back all the unsold Unicrons and they just repacked them in new boxes

Your bargaining postures are quite ludibious.

I think the robot hero perfectly encapsulates his movie details in terms of model accuracy. I bought a universe unicron to replace my old one which had a few problems when I got it for $22. (two missing small missles and a broken dead end peg) I really think it works fine in the universe line.

If they did a henkei version:

Maybe a more red orange primary color and chrome for the chest parts.

I agree the Armada Unicron mold is near perfect, but does have it's flaws. However I too would have loved to have seen a new re-cast/re-paint. Eliminating the translucent purple planet halves and chest, clear "abs", and clear hand would help so much. Besides that glowing hand gimmick is pointless, I like the eyes, but the hand was stupid.

What I would love to see out of that mold would be something along the lines of the Darth Vader/Death Star, but without all the annoying panel madness, or even a Unicron that transforms into the Inner Unicron complete with small Hot Rod/Galvatron figures or the Fusion Pit with small Arcee/Daniel/Jazz/Springer figures.

Or at least a small set of Dinobots so that they could kick the robot's butt!

to make one decent, he'd have to be supreme size, and hasbro has said multiple times that that will only come out around the holidays, and it probably needs a show to support it, as stated already. so, by them redoing it in universe, it just makes it easy for them to put the toy out for people who weren;t around during armada...

Also if the rumored apperance in the 3rd movie happens, you can bet on a Supreme or $100 version of him.

I think he's just fine as he is, and I might even get the Reprolabels to top him off.

Something else to consider is the fact that it took 16 years before we even got the first one during Armada, and that was only because he was IN Armada. I fully expect it to be another 9 years more before we get a new mold version that's closer to the movie and supreme class. Hopefully, by then everyone will be ready for him to appear in TFTM part 6: Cybertron - The Musical.

To be honest I would be perfectly happy with a really detailed Leader Class version that actually turns into a whole round planet.
