Well I got my first G1 Re-Issue Figure from ams, Grapple [as a freebie in my recent order] and that's gotten me HOOKED on the series. I've searched ebay and seems it may be easy enough and cheap enough to get the later Series III-V Figures. Anyone else hooked on these figures? I'd love to find some of the Seekers from this series but I'm trying to look through and find which ones are the better figures of the series compared to their G1 Counterparts.
I had a few, but sold them all on. The original three Seekers come with elongated bombs and missles/lasers, which I hated, especially the bombs which look ridiculous. Some (All? I didn't have that many) of the Autobot cars have plain black plastic weapons rather than the original chrome. I think some of them aren't interchangeable with their original counterparts, so you can't replace them with vintage off ebay.
I like the Grapple Figure I got he just is a nice looking figure,I hope I'll get some of the ones I'm bidding on, Especially Hoist. I'm though looking to bolster the Autobot Forces in my collection since they're outnumbered. And since I've seen so many of these Commemorative figures out there I'd say it's time to get some. As if I didn't have a space shortage now due to all the recent TF buying..... Just which of the figures of the Commemorative Series would be the cheapest to get....
I have several of those figures. I love'em. I did sell Jazz though, and bought the Encore one. The Hasbro one had some mold problems with the face, but it was corrected on the Encore. Oh, and I sold the Hasbro versions of TC and SW, and bought the Encore set. For most figures though, as long as non-chromed weapons and non-firing missile launchers are not a problem for you, the CS stuff is fine.
I have a few of them and for some of them, I got the original/Takara weapons because the black ones did not work for me. I would say that Hoist, Sideswipe, Red Alert, Tracks are all relatively similar to the original versions. If you find either Jazz or one of the three Datsuns at a reasonable price, I hope that you do not mind the black/non-launchable weapons.
I love mine. I have never opened them so the safety changes don't really affect me, except for looking at those god awful smokestacks on Prime.
I only have Jazz. Never had him as a kid, so I bought him on an impulse. Wouldn't ya know it, he was actually what started me on collecting. Went straight to Alternators from there (Silverstreak... then Sideswipe... then Grimlock and Windcharger). Sure, I miss the chromed weapons and all the vintagey goodness... now. But I sure didn't then. Silverstreak and Jazz are still two of my favorite pieces.
Man! CS Jazz was my first TF for about 16 or so years, followed by Alt. Silverstreak. I've sold them both on since, but they re-awakened something in me, five or so years later, and they have no idea what they started. EDIT: Love your sig, completely agree.
I have my TF's on Display mainly, I never really play with em....I occasionally Transform em when I dust em off. I'll be surprised if I win the few I'm bidding on now for less than $10....and I found a Dirge I'm bidding on I really hope I win.
I was hooked on them when they first came out, but they are not that interesting anymore. They've been sitting in a rubbermaid for the better part of a year, which is one step away from eBay. I would agree that Takara has done a better overall job with the reissues.
I'd agree if you can get the Takara Encore versions of Jazz, Thundercracker, Skywarp or Prime (or the 25th Anniv. Prime, if it's Hasbro), get those over the HC ones. If you don't care about spring-loaded weapons, then it doesn't matter; I'm not sure about price comparisons though. I have the HC Sideswipe, Skids and Tracks and like them, though why Hasbro took out the springs is beyond me (just make the missiles longer like on Ultra Magnus; I can only imagine what a kid must've thought if they got one of the HC reissues and thought they got a busted one because the guns won't shoot).
Well the ones I was bidding on didn't go cheap as I thought[Got outbid] but still I'll look for them in the future possibly. I'm sure my Grapple Figure will remind me to get more of them each time I look at it. But as for now....pretty much low on space and funds. This thread is mainly for the fact I'm interested in this one series that I didn't get when they came out. Which Figure out of this whole series is the best one? [That of course varies by opinion]
I only have three of them. I picked up Grapple, Smokescreen and Thundercracker back when they were released. They are nice, but I think Toys R Us charged too much for these bots when they were out in stores. This made me limit the amount I picked up.
I had the complete Commemorative series but sold them or traded them off for the encore series. The TRU series and the movie got me hooked again.
I have a lot of them only ones dont have is Prime, Rachett, Smokescreen, Red Alert, Rod Prime and Skids
I'd much rather have the springs removed than have the missiles elongated. It still looks good, and you're not looking all over the floor for that stupid missile that somehow fired on it's own!
