Has anyone purchased one of these since they became available over the last couple weeks?

I'm curious to know what the quality is like, especially compared to the original release MP-2 in 2005. Things like chest door alignment, paint chips and paint application etc.

    Any info/photos would be great!

    Cheers.

i bought it last week, but obviously i dont have the original to compare it with..however, the quality seems fine.. the chest doors align alright.. then snap in rather tightly.. joints are excellent as usual..paint apps are fine, no chips that i noticed... anyway, here are some pics

Hey, thanks so much for posting these!

I couldn't help but notice what I think might be some paint chips (red arrows) and also what looks to be like a slightly warped up area of the bottom of one of his chest doors (blue arrow)? Not super sure though as the image was a little blurry.

I have the original release MP-2 from 2005 shown below, but was considering purchasing the re-issue to keep MISB......still not sure what to do :p

Thanks so much again for taking the time!

Damn dude I love how you have that displayed. I had no desire to buy this figure until I saw that picture. Good idea with the card.

Cheers mate! I actually work at an Apple reseller and we have a company that we contract to make those plastic table talkers for the computers. I think I have put them to some better use though! Hehehe

It seems that a bunch of these Takaratomy MP2s (they changed the company logo on the box, so it's a way to differentiate it from the original) have the cab lights installed upside down like yours in the pic. It could be a widespread error similar to MP Thundercracker's chest.

    Holy Moly!

Well done noticing that, I had completely overlooked that!

You are 100% correct, the link below shows the way the head lights SHOULD be installed (like on the 2005 original release):

i guess ur right about the chipped paint, but i dont think the door/chest area is warped... i compared it with my MP-04 (which may in itself be warped) and it looked the same, and it seems to clip in fine..but then again im not an expert on this kinda stuff :D  heck i didnt even notice the tiny paint chips, i dont look in that detail.. but im glad my pics helped, at least

From memory I think that they are glued in place, but someone please correct me if I am wrong.

I can understand swapping the boob missiles over on Thundercracker, but getting head lights upside down on a "masterpiece" figure is a little ridiculous......oh well...

Yep, you are right. That curved bottom edge on his right hand side chest door is also on the MP-4 that I have. However, my MP-2 (1st run) and MP-1 (also first run) don't have it so I am fairly sure it's just the die-cast mould they use getting a bit old and hence not as accurate as it once was :(

Look!! obviously, these parts are up-side-down!!

It is the greatest quality problem for this mp2 reissue. It happens very very often.

ur right again..damn, u guys spotted these with just the pics, i didnt notice em even having the figure with me....guess im not that picky..and if i dont notice em, then i gues its not a big deal for me... but ur absolutely right...these are all QC issues, and after spending this amount on an MP figure, u shouldnt have to deal with this kinda crap

Absolutely! It's not called a Masterpiece because they can't work out which way up a head lamp should go

Just received my Magnus from BBTS today. Has the upside-down headlights as well as paint wear. A great looking and feeling figure, but obviously a little below my expectations regarding the QC.

mine got the upside down headlights too but the white paint job on mine is excellent. he even transforms better then my MP4 and 20th DVD prime! the headlights I can deal with because he's gonna be displayed in robot mode and you can't see the headlights.

I recieved my UM from BBTS just yesterday and I noticed that his left hand side chest door is a bit crooked/cockeyed where it sits on his body. Anyone else have this problem or heard about it? It doesn't look so good.
