Hydrogen Peroxide. Your mileage with it may vary. Don't breathe it in.

It's due either to a molecular change in the plastic or just grime. Off the top of my head, H202 (especially if you can find something with closer to 15% concentration instead of that household stuff) would probably be your best bet for the former or just a good scrubbing for the latter.

*disclaimer - more concentrated H202 presents some health risk; wear gloves, work in a well ventilated area/fume hood, etc.

I've used the 3 percent from the brown containers. Just take the figure apartment and make sure you draw a diagram of how to put the figure back together. I've done this with my powermaster getaway with great results as well as my white falcon zord, and after a year both still look great, granted some yellowing has returned, but the deep yellow is gone. I can show photo evidence if the OP wants.

Hi, I tried with peroxide hydro for certain TF but the yellow does return.

Thus my conclusion is that only certain TF figure can be deyellow such as Jet Fire

Mind to share the link of your getaway?

Wait, so you can get rid of the yellow, but then it returns?

How long does it take to turn yellow again? Do you smoke? Is the figure exposed to sunlight?

If the peroxide isn't getting rid of the yellow, it could be an issue of concentration, time, or temperature. Even air humidity may have an impact, and remember to use a SEALED container as the vapors appear to be necessary to the process.

H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide) works by 'undoing' the chemical reaction that caused the yellowing in the first place. Since treating plastic with H2O2 removes some of protective finish layer (as does typical wear and age), the item will eventually yellow again because that is the nature of white ABS plastic when exposed to heat/time/light. If it makes you feel any better, the aliphatic non yellowing alternative would slowly poison you and possibly burst into flames.

Using higher concentrations of H2O2, which would have to be special ordered, would give better results at the cost of requiring more safety precautions.

I've never tried Oxyclean, but it looks like it would work under a similar property, albeit a bit safer. As to its result, I can not attest.

I can't speak for the other poster, but it does turn the figure white again, it just happens to start yellowing again. My falcon zord specifically was really yellow, and I remember leaving it in a jug of 3 percent for about 3 days, and it got REALLY white after a time. Its been about a year since I did that, and while its yellowed somewhat it doesnt look nearly as bad beforehand.

I don't have any before pictures of my Power Master Getaway, so showing a picture of a white getaway wont really proove anything. What I do have, is a slap dash junker that I only used peroxide on parts of the figure. This was about 8 months ago, and while some of the yellowing has returned it isnt nearly as bad as it was untreated.

so I'm going to have to get some peroxide ordered to get this done. the link i saw it said it was like 98 dollars. that right now is a little pricey. i might have to wait till income tax then i might as well get a complete one or at least a white one

Before you start ordering anything, just try the 3%. Anything stronger can POTENTIALLY mess up the figure. I've always been too scared to try the stronger stuff, personally.

The reason I've been slightly scared to try anything is if you look at the upper right corner of my slapdash figure, you will notice some smudging. That grayish smudging appeared after only ONE application of 3% H202.

Yeah, I would try the 3% first, or you may find 6-10% solutions at some pharmacies or online, this will be the type used for hair bleaching. Don't go paying 100 bucks for H2O2 I wouldn't mess with the industrial 70% solutions, as it is a powerful oxidizer, combustible, readily degrades, etc. As with any chemical, be aware of the MSDS protocols before you use it, even at the safer/lower conc.

This is an old link I found a forum I mod:
    Removing Yellowing from Plastics (Page 1) - Tutorials, Mods & How-To's - Forums - ChipMusic.org

His chemistry is a bit suspect (Bromine causing yellowing...), but you can't argue with results.
