I got most of my Henkeis rather recently, so I can't really judge this.

But I'm curious - how is the chrome holding off on everyone's Henkei figs?

I have Megatron, Optimus Prime, Starscream, Hot Rod, Astrotrain, and Thundercracker. All of mine are perfect but honestly they have all been in my display since I got them and have maybe been transformed once or twice. Chrome is a lot tougher than people give it credit for. I transform and play with my Masterpeice Optimus Prime all the time and he still doesn't have any chrome wear.

I've had Megatron since SakuraCon this year, but all the Henkei's have only been coming out since early this year, so someone would really have to be beating their figures up to get any chrome wear or chipping already.

I keep mine in a display case so mine are still perfect, but I am a bad example.

Good to hear. I was kinda curious, given how much I like the chrome on some of the Henkeis I have (like Prime's grill).

most plain silver chrome is pretty hardy. I think most of the problems on past TF toys were with color-coated chrome flaking off, or just the the color coating coming off the silver chrome base.

This. The purple coating on my Astrotrain's chrome is already flaking off.

I don't have any Henkeis, but having collected many different types of toys over the years, the silver chrome is pretty durable. It's the colored stuff that flakes. It'd take some serious backyard play before you'd see some wear.

Crap, I was thinking of getting Henkei Cyclonus, now it seems I'll be stirring clear off of him.

on my chrome on rodimus, i dont know if its my fault, but theres like a huge dark spot where the chrome is. It could have been a factory defect that i didn't notice or caused by something else, looks like oil. I can't clean if off, anyone know what it is?

All the chrome on mine has been fine so far and I don't display them or anything.

The bad part about chrome plastic is not the flaking, but the very sensitive surface that oxidize/stain easy with little finger oil or sweat. If you leave finger prints on it unwiped and put it back in the display case, your fingerprint will eat into the surface really quickly and eventually stays permanant. Or any sweat or water droplets will cause the chrome to have dark tiny spots over time. Happened to quite a few of my SOC and high end robot toys. Chrome diecast however is a bit better and less easy to oxidize. If they do, the stain or marks are not as permanant, and can be cleaned most of the time.

So take good care of the chrome parts, always wipe it clean with some soft cloth after playing before put them back on display. Or get a pair of cotton gloves for handling them if you are really picky.
