On October 17th of this year an email was sent out to Big Lots stores notifying them of a recall on the individually carded over-sized LOC bootleg figures. The next day, they sent a notice recalling the LOC bootleg combiners.

As stated in the email, the toys do not present a safety hazard. This is in fact a legal (copyright) recall. All of these toys will be pulled from the selves of Big Lots and destroyed. Even if you were to find these toys still on the selves, they should ring up on the register as "not for sale" or some other recall notice.

Thanks to Superquad7 for this image of one of the items being pulled:

This added to the removal of most bootlegs from ebay and various other websites is further evidence of Hasbro's dedication to removing bootleg Transformers from the market.

:wtf:  is Hasbro REALLY that crazy?

These are not the same as the KO's that looked like the original G1's

    I wonder which other one's are next....:wtf:

Maybe not, but the LoC molds are still some that Hasbro has active (as in they can use them if they want to right now).

Good. More crap toys pulled from the shelves. Though, I do wonder...why do they pull the legal card on these, but the bootlegged G1s on eBay and other sites still slip through the cracks? I realize they've been cracking down as of late, but why the Big Lots ones. and why now?

You'd think they'd handle this more efficiently.

Yeah, fuck Assblo for defending their intellectual property rights and taking legal actions against those AWESOME Chinese companies who give us toys in AWESOME colors for lower prices than the Assblo rip-offs!

When I see news like this, I get this small feeling of "Whoa, they DO care." Not that I ever figured they didn't, but the glut of Transformer knockoffs seen in Big Lots and other places make it easy to get the impression that most of the time they think it's not worth the effort/money to force the legal issue.

^Because its time for action. And hasbro has been chaseing down ko companies that have made g1 reproductions for a few months now.

This is just the first time I've seen it actually available through a major brick and mortar retailer.

I think the only ko I felt was worth the money from big lots was that ko prowl last year.
I like kos really, I just don't like paying money for them. When that same money can buy the real hasbro robots.

    Ebay:
i think its funny because last time i was in there they also had the official releases of the LOCs next to the bootleg ones. The bootlegs one were bigger and cheaper. so yeah, makes sense to me. good for hasbro.

I think really the point is that the same money that buys the KO *can't* buy the real thing. One of the major selling points of KOs is their lower cost (naturally, corresponding to lower quality most of the time, obviously). And in many cases you can't get the real thing "new" from a store. It's only the secondary market that's affected. It's not like Hasbro makes money when I buy a G1 on ebay or at a flea market.

Now there is the other issue of devaluation of their brand, which I understand even if I don't agree with it.

I've always been more concerned with the safety of these cheap KOs from Big Lots. These things are horrible!! A parent should NEVER buy those things for their kids! I am more opposed to this things than I could EVER be towards the "G1 replica" style KOs.

Maybe they'll reissue the Combiners! LOL

Who knows, Gene Simmons did a big crackdown on all of the bootleg KISS concerts and then turned around and released the same bootlegs in 3 official boxed sets.....It could happen with TFs I suppose....Crack down on bootlegs, get them all off the shelves then release the real thing?!
